I actually liked 2nd GIG a bit more than Season 1 because it seemed tied together a bit better.
I feel the exact same way.

There should be 6 60min episodes but.... they will be released (apparently) over the course of 3 years, with 2 a year (the next in like august or sept). Sucks ya, but the episode is still great.

You ever hit the weight limits? I recall it starts scaling up exponentially after a point. Besides, when you consider how you buy 10 books, call it $8 each, for $80 worth of orders you are paying $50+ for shipping. That's pretty bad honestly...well, it could be that every time I want to buy I have over 40 vols on my list piled up.

I don't think I've ever read manga then watched the episodes before but I would imagine it detracts from the experience. I'd rather go anime > manga to see what I missed / get more story

It was just too fast and too random and way too cheesy...a guy with drills coming out of his hands and the whole stupid briefcase thing. The first set of characters were all just so damn boring...like shit that had been done a million times before... Then I got to the third episode and it was great.

The Kushatorya (and its pilot) look nice though. Mech looks silly in illustrations but is damn elegant in animation <3 I still think it looks like a rip off of Machine Mess Auge though.

I loved that briefcase thingy ![]() I guess on the subject, should I start reading the manga again? After watching the anime I started the manga, but it was so freaking generic -- random guy meets random action girl who's skirt flies up every battle and who has the character development of porridge. Does it get any better, or should I just screw it? Edit -- and I found the first ep of Ga Rei Zero hilarious too. I was like "what? Um... ok..."

Now and Then, Here and There (8/10) Gunslinger girl. (7/10) Gunslinger girl has a dollhouse thing going on. Little girls are turned into killing machines. Action and drama. The main thrust of the plot is largely about the emotions the girls and their handlers go though. Now and Then, Here and There is a tragedy, bitter sweet. My kind of story. A heavy aiming show where a kid has to deal with war, indoctrination, killing, rape and abortion. While it dealt with "adult" issues it was often simplistic and probably best watched in teenage years.

It would have been better if it delved ia bit deeper into the minds of the other soldiers instead of just the main character. However, while I considered Shuzo's actions childish, it seemed more realistic that way. I think he was portrayed somewhat as an average teenager, and I don't think it is reasonable to expect him to deal with the issues in an adult manner. Shu's actions? Realistic? Some guy who thinks he's Pangloss? Yeah right. The story was like Candide. The only difference? Shu never changes.

Though I may be remembering Shu's actions to be less extreme than they actually were.
