Testie, season 2 ended at like no more than chapter 130, chapter 261 showed up today. There is more than enough material.
Hopefully they'll dump Nagi and focus on Hina and Aa-tan and Maria-san.
EDIT - Missed this.

New chapters of Bungaku Shoujo just got scanlated. I stand corrected about Konoha's disposition. By this point, he has shown his irrational fear for being on rooftop. The post traumatic syndrome part of him is quite overt, now. Though, him saying that his death would be just deserts for not understanding Miu (and making a parallel with the current case) is still kind of... angsty, for the lack of a better term to describe it.
Also, since I don't really want to research up Ningen Shikaku, but there are so many references to him, would watching Aoi Bungaku suffice in understanding those references? You are better off asking like Shauni on his opinion on Aoi Bungaku, I didn't follow it in particular since all that did was make me want to read the original, it didn't inspire me too much as an anime on its own. That said, I did watch the No Longer Human part, although not very carefully. I recall that the events are pretty accurate in terms of how it reflects the book, so you should probably be fine watching it.
Most of the references to books in the novels are in quotations (possibly twisted to fit the plot's needs) or in Touko's explanations of the situation (even though as a Japanese student you almost had to have at least passing knowledge of No Longer Human, it doesn't do too well to assume). So if they don't do the former, they'll probably have the latter beefed up, you should do fine even if you don't have good knowledge of the work.
About Konoha in vol 1, he is pretty bad then, and honestly his outlook doesn't really improve for a while. He has some pretty immediate redemption by the end of vol 1, but in general, when things involve Miu in any way, he turns really bad...well, the rest I'll wait to discuss with you when at least vol 1 wraps up, you'll be missing a lot of things until then. On a completely unrelated note, did they do the 4koma specials? I had a good laugh at how even there, they make fun of Touko for how flat she is. It is almost a rule in the novels that every few lines of descriptions of Touko will have a mandatory reminder to the readers that she is flat. Why, she is in a play in men's clothing? Amazing, that chest doesn't make anyone think twice even though it is a female playing a male role. Maki-senpai wants Touko to pose nude? Nah, no need to watch, she is flat, etc etc.
I am currently stopped at the beginning of vol 4 to pace myself a little, since vol 3 ended with some dark and terrible secrets revealed. Too bad it looks like the theatrical release is only going to cover vol 1 at this rate. Oh, and I rather dislike Nanase's character design for anime, thought the light novel illustration was much better. A shame that no one subbed that 15min promo ova though, just dugged that up over the weekend. Touko-senpai is amazing, watch a revival of her popularity in the kono light novel ga sugoi poll this year.

Chapter 261? what? One Manga sucks it only has chapters up to 164 Where are you getting this >:| + Show Spoiler + I need another season fffffffffffffffff
|
Well for one I read raws!
From what my friend said, there was a gap after what onemanga has by like 30 chapters, but everything after has been translated. Mangahelper might have scanlations?
|
MangaFox has them. But I can't seem to view any of the pages at that site. ffffffffff

Testie:
Well, if you feel like downloading the ones after 164, instead of reading them online, there's always gotlurk.net.

I tanked the whole of Hajime no Ippo in the last week (both seasons). While the story line was a bit bleak, I loved the character dynamics and the humour. Takamura is the man ! Love these kind of animes. Reminded me of Great Teacher Onizuka a lot. Any other animes like that out there?

There's that much left to the first volume? It seems like we've reached a climax of some sort with Konoha currently in a life-threatening situation. Also, you really concede to the point about Konoha being angsty? That was uh, unexpected. I knew I was losing the argument, hence, I continued to redefine my initial assertion =P. Konoha's thoughts actually felt more subdued compared to his physiological response (e.g. fear of rooftop, facial expression for Takeda's "betrayal").
Yes, they did the 4koma specials. Indeed, they joke about how flat Touko is =). The manga is actually drawn in shoujo style, though, so the other girls are not exactly much bustier than Touko is.
Just watched the first Gundam Unicorn episode. Aside from the title being terrible (like something that would come out of G Gundam), I also didn't like the design for the gundam... well, the color. I know a unicorn is white, but come on, monochromatic white is really bland (I thought the dark blue and black MKII would be the worst colored gundam I've come across).
Upon seeing the design for protagonist, I feared that he would be quite wimpy. Glad to see that he could hold his own in a fight. He also continued the trend of teenager turned gundam pilot that is a newtype in the UC universe. Big surprise there.

Well, Konoha is angsty no matter how you put it, I really only aimed to force you to redefine the limits of how emo he is. Someone who isn't angsty, PTSD or not, isn't about to get like that every time Miu is mentioned. That and the current solution is clearly temporary, while I wouldn't mind such a peaceful way of carrying things out with him being Touko-senpai's personal dessert maker for the rest of his life, that isn't going to work out. Heck, for one, Touko won't even graduate at this rate, man her grades can be horrid if it doesn't involve languages.
In the particular case in vol 1 though, his thoughts and his physiological response are highly linked, while he just rejects the rooftop as a location outright, it really is the triggered memories of Miu that did most of it. I'll check the manga later just to see how they did it, but with the novel, the descriptions at that point practically changed entirely to Konoha's thoughts. Far as I am concerned, it means to me that he has practically lost track of what's happening here (other than that response to rooftop) and sunk into his own little world of pain. Is it particularly emo? Good question, I'll have to reread and think it over, but I can't exactly say that he is absolutely not angsty. Hard to prove absolutes, I'll settle for a compromise in my favor
About the length left, if I say too much about it you'll be able to guess things, so I'll put it this way, what you have at the end of the latest chapter that I saw isn't enough, we'll need more for a clear resolution. How much more is a good question though. + Show Spoiler [Zaregoto series, this has nothing to d…] +I am now fiercely missing Zaregoto series and how Aikawa Jun would show up and solve everything, even after they have all been solved, and leave absolutely nothing remaining...which brings me on a rant crying about how bad the translations were. Who in their right mind transliterates things into an American style shit and then censor it with "caca"...ignore that little off track bitching.
Yeah, the novel illustrations are like that too, but Touko just gets so much flak for it. Almost pitiful if I didn't find it so funny and if she doesn't break out whining like a 5yr old every time.
Unicorn's color scheme was kind of weak, but other things look like they can be pretty good. Can't really blame them for the protagonist fitting that stereotype though, I am personally willing to give Gundam that benefit of doubt and just see how the rest turns out, it is just too hard to go on using more 'realistic' settings.
|
Yeah, well, I'm not exactly criticizing their cliche. Since they're linking Newtypes with the natural ability to pilot, only newtypes can make the transition from being a civilian to a pilot rather quickly (there are like one or two exceptions. Katejina Loos made her transition from civilian to pilot rather seemlessly, and is quite a pilot). The two protagonists in the UC century who aren't newtypes (Shiro Amada and that guy from stardust memory) are both in their twenties and already serving in the military at the start of the show.
It's unfortunate that I'm giving the UC gundams more benefit of a doubt than the newer gundam series. I actually wasn't going to pick up Gundam Unicorn simply because of the title, until I heard that it is in the UC timeline.
Hard to prove absolutes, I'll settle for a compromise in my favor
lol, fine.
a new chapter of Break Blade also got scanlated. I'm surprised to see Bard lose his cool like that after Erusa dies. At first I thought he had come up with a plan, but dismissed it after the special unit arrives.
|
I don't really have a regular source for raws since I still haven't taken the time to configure PD/Share, though if scanlation for Break Blade is up to that, then I am a fair bit ahead, like 6+ chapters at least I think.
The biggest impression that Unicorn made on me so far is actually the music, lol, after the mediocre stuff from Seed and 00, it can't be welcomed more.
Trying to prove that Konoha isn't emo is impossible anyway. At the rate things are going, that emo won't be exorcised out of him till vol 8 and maybe like the SS afterstories. So quitting while I am ahead and going back to ogling at Touko senpai. That and hoping the people who upload raws will get SS2 out so I can go read the baka test/bungaku shoujo crossover (in case you wonder why such a thing exists, same publisher).
|
Yeah, I'm fairly behind on Break Blade. Not surprised, though, since the first scanlator group stopped after like, 5 chapters. Wasn't until the announcement about the movies did another group pick it up... I think.
The music left quite a good impression on me, too. But the awesome graphics (despite my complaints about Unicorn's design) is what left me ogling. That left me excited about what Sunrise can do about Gintama movie.
How many volumes of Bungaku Shoujo novel are out? If by till volume 8 you mean till the end of the story, then yeah. I think he won't fully exorcise his demons until the end.
|
Bungaku shoujo is 12 vols total, main story ended by vol 8 of long stories, 2 SS, 2 gaiden, ongoing. And personally I wouldn't hold that kind of assumption, the series has been prone to surprise me. Comes with following following a base that you know well but still expected to get some novel reaction out of it, perhaps?
Really, so little attention? Break Blade is one of the better action-focused mangas I've seen recently, not many has caught my attention for a while. Then again the things I have an interest in tends to be minor, the Bungaku Shoujo promo OVA apparently has been out for 2 months and no subs yet. So sad that I can't shove it on sub-relying friends.
Oh the Gintama movie...man I am really looking forward to that, one of my favorite mangas. There is plenty of room left for more design goodness to show if that 6 vol length for unicorn is correct, the OVA is mightily pretty though.
|
So, will the Bungaku movie cover a selected few long stories?
I don't think mecha mangas are popular in general. I have only read a few, myself.
|
Manga is really tedious to read on a computer and expensive to buy.
|
Light novels hurt more, $8 book for $20 shipping, damn Amazon. TT
Bungaku's theatrical release looked like it is only going to be vol 1, but I think it is going to be a rakkyo/break blade style multiple episode release, since it is kind of pointless to even bother with like Nanase if they aren't going to go past vol 1.
|
how is www.onemanga.com tedius? No downloads, fast loading pictures that you just click on to get to the next page. I agree with them being too expensive to buy but tedious? Nay sir, nay.

How tedious it can be to click one key? (Right key) lol

Holy fuck it's tedious to read on the web. First, it takes like, bookmarking a site 2nd it takes like, a couple clicks & scrolls to look through the index 3rd, you gotta click then start pressing the -> key
Man, and fuck books while we're at it too. I can't be turnin' pages n' shit.
|
I think he means the fact that you'll be reading single pages in all likelihood, manga is really meant to be opened up as a book, and the way to achieve clean scans by doing it page by page can be a bit of a nuisance. The price you pay?
|
Pretty much Ecael. In my experience with scanned manga, you have to scroll down or enlarge the text then make everything skippy. At least it was like that for me. Hard to explain with 2 hours of slepp. T_T
