If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

So after Spice wolf I tried 1 episode of K-On. So ugh...what good about this anime too lol. I dont understand it....all I get from the first episode is that this series is going to be crammed with tons and tons of cuteness and moe. Does the story ever get interesting?

I am consider dropping it after finding out that season 2 had like 30+ episode. I dont wana blow my time like I did was shana lol. So does the series ever get interesting or should I just be in it for the cuteness?

Its funny how some people find K-ON enoyable and others dont. Its supposedly supposed to target the young female audience with their cuteness. But I converted season 1 for my sister to watch on her iPad and shes not interested at all in the series. She enjoys other moe-crap like Ika Musume and Working.

I thought the series was okay, nothing "omg cute!" or any of the sort. Im still trying to finish season 2, im like 20/26 atm, but I cant bring myself to finish it.

I don't know where you get the idea that K-ON's target audience are young females. Just because something is cute doesn't mean it's for females only. K-ON is classified as seinen, meaning for young males and even for older males, and is published in a seinen magazine too. The fact that there's almost no male characters in K-ON further emphasizes that it's for males. However, that's not to say some females don't like K-ON. When I went to watched the K-ON movie in Japan, I was expecting 100% males, but there were a significant amount females in the theatre too.

Also, there's a difference between moe and slice-of-life. Just because Ika Musume and Working are slice-of-life, doesn't mean they're "moe-crap".

Yeah, I'm definitely sure that K-On! is targeted toward males and is seinen. All of the people I know that have watched it and liked it are guys. I'm pretty sure that some girls think it's creepy that guys watch this show to see 2D girls giggle, scream moe moe kyun!, and look cute. I like K-On! though, it's more of a watch-when-you're-bored rather than watch for a plot.

I'm definitely not one of those girls. I loved K-On! There was something so lovely about the series. Especially some of the quieter moments. It had a nice balance of fanservice moments, comedy and sentimental bits which really cheered me up whenever I watched it. Plus the character designs were cute imo due to their relative simplicity. Heck, I even own almost all of the nendoroids, and have K-On! posters on my walls. (I felt the same way about Oreimo too. Those two titles got me back into anime again last year due to their aesthetics, and the ease of watching them aka. they're both kind of relaxing.)

By contrast I'm also a big fan of titles like Gantz, Elfen Lied, Tenipuri, Ao no Exorcist, Tiger & Bunny etc. I also prefer horror manga such as the work of Junji Ito. Variety is definitely the appeal of anime/manga for me personally.

I enjoyed K-ON! alot. I don't even know why. It's not particularly enlightening and it's definitely not deep. In fact, it doesn't even have a story line.

Sure there's the moe, but something about the show makes it fun to watch. It's relaxing, yet still manages to move at a decent clip.

I just saw the K-ON! movie in Japan twice actually lol. I got myself a lovely film strip for doing so . It's been so long since the series, that I had actually forgotten about it, but upon watching the movie I was reminded of how much fun I had watching the show. That movie is actually really good and the level of writing is probably a step above even what the series itself was. You'd think that K-ON attracts exclusively men but it's actually not true at all. The gender balance is fairly 50-50. Both times in the theater, females outnumbered the males. But from what I saw while I was lining up for K-ON! concert tickets, the distribution is fairly even.

Let's have a team liquid trip for the inevitable 2nd k-on movie when Azunyan graduates, WAI!

So ugh after watching Spice wolf and deciding to put K-On on temporary hold, I decided to watching Serial Experiment Lain and this show is weird as heck. Although this slice of weirdness does draw me in wanting to know wth is going to happen next. Hope this doesnt disapoint me like spice and wolf. Although I must say the art is really old and kinda bad lol

It's not confirmed officially, but they were dropping hints like mad during the movie. KyoAni would be nuts to not have a 2nd movie in the works. The gross from this movie has been incredible.

Does anyone remember the name of the anime. Group of 6 kids i believe all play together as young kids, like 6 years old then one of the girls dies and overtime they all split up and she then comes back as a ghost several years later but only the main character can hear her?

I don't know about that, Steins Gate is one of the best series I've seen in a long long time as far as anime is concerned. I haven't seen the ending yet, hoping it isn't depressing or unsatisfying. It seems to be a running theme in a lot of anime, they never end properly or they backhand you with some depressing ending that came out of left field.

I used to watch loads of anime but for some reason its hard for me to watch now.. maybe it just plucks my heart strings too much

my favs are Ergo Proxy, GiTS, Serial Experiments Lain, and Mushishi.

Anime can get pretty deep depending on the genre.

Steins Gate hit the spot in almost all category. The only part that it failed or didnt live up to it expectation was the ending. The ending was really predictable and from such a clever anime, I expected more from them. I was left a bit disappointed at the end though which is why I felt it was a bit over rated. Beside the ending it is really good imo but Anohana has a very satsifying ending and a pretty interesting story line overall. I also think Anohana is better but they are both pretty difference genre so it also depend on taste but for a viewer like me who is unbias and like both of the genre, I personally think Anohana better.

I don't know what the fuck the debugger is let alone do I know how to get the shit to work. The message is a REALLIVE message if that means anything.
