I am consider dropping it after finding out that season 2 had like 30+ episode. I dont wana blow my time like I did was shana lol. So does the series ever get interesting or should I just be in it for the cuteness?
Its funny how some people find K-ON enoyable and others dont. Its supposedly supposed to target the young female audience with their cuteness. But I converted season 1 for my sister to watch on her iPad and shes not interested at all in the series. She enjoys other moe-crap like Ika Musume and Working.
I thought the series was okay, nothing "omg cute!" or any of the sort. Im still trying to finish season 2, im like 20/26 atm, but I cant bring myself to finish it.
I don't know where you get the idea that K-ON's target audience are young females. Just because something is cute doesn't mean it's for females only. K-ON is classified as seinen, meaning for young males and even for older males, and is published in a seinen magazine too. The fact that there's almost no male characters in K-ON further emphasizes that it's for males. However, that's not to say some females don't like K-ON. When I went to watched the K-ON movie in Japan, I was expecting 100% males, but there were a significant amount females in the theatre too.
Also, there's a difference between moe and slice-of-life. Just because Ika Musume and Working are slice-of-life, doesn't mean they're "moe-crap".
Yeah, I'm definitely sure that K-On! is targeted toward males and is seinen. All of the people I know that have watched it and liked it are guys. I'm pretty sure that some girls think it's creepy that guys watch this show to see 2D girls giggle, scream moe moe kyun!, and look cute. I like K-On! though, it's more of a watch-when-you're-bored rather than watch for a plot.
I'm definitely not one of those girls. I loved K-On! There was something so lovely about the series. Especially some of the quieter moments. It had a nice balance of fanservice moments, comedy and sentimental bits which really cheered me up whenever I watched it. Plus the character designs were cute imo due to their relative simplicity. Heck, I even own almost all of the nendoroids, and have K-On! posters on my walls. (I felt the same way about Oreimo too. Those two titles got me back into anime again last year due to their aesthetics, and the ease of watching them aka. they're both kind of relaxing.)
By contrast I'm also a big fan of titles like Gantz, Elfen Lied, Tenipuri, Ao no Exorcist, Tiger & Bunny etc. I also prefer horror manga such as the work of Junji Ito. Variety is definitely the appeal of anime/manga for me personally.
Haha, lol. I'm a guy and the only reasons I disliked Gantz and Elfen Lied is because of the combination of excess gore and excess nudity. Maybe because I'm a "newb" to anime since I only began watching around the time Madoka came out. My comments about girls not liking K-On! is based on my experiences in the US, so anime viewing isn't really "cool". I don't know how it is in other places though. I do agree that K-On! always cheered me up and never failed to deliver when I was sad. When depressed, I always watched K-On! and whenever unmotivated I listened to "Don't Say 'Lazy'". Lol, I can't believe that both of us are the only ones that spelled K-On! with the exclamation mark. XD
It's quite mainstream here (Seoul) in some ways since a lot of the large bookstores have manga sections, and the access to cosplay/fanworks events like Comic World is pretty well developed. I've seen everyone from middle schoolers to families attending that convention. (As well as a few slightly creepy guys who seem to spend all their time stalking cosplaying young women with ridiculously expensive camera set ups.) Oh and guys in dresses - Guy!Luka is one of my favorite people to try and spot each time.
I have gone off Gantz recently due to how explicit the manga has become. I feel as though it peaked around the 100 point missions and has since forgotten the core elements of the plot/character development in favor of endless gore/tonnes of throw away characters who no one has time to get attatched to. I still prefer a good title with a mixture of action/gore, mystery and gorgeous animation to anything romantic though. I'm also really not a fan of harem/reverse-harem animes even if the character designs are very pretty.
Randomly I'm currently trying to trawl through Tenipuri. It's slightly hard going because the old episodes are rather ugly (and due to Tenimyu I know the plot back to front.) I think it's necessary though, because I'm still working on the manga 177/379 chapters and I need to get caught up now Shinpuri is coming out.
Oh, and I just started Durarara after getting sucked into the character designs via picking up merchandise at CW. I even ended up going to a Shizuo-only doujinshi event where a group of about 20 circles sold their work. There were also Shizuo cosplayers (and other events my limited Korean didn't allow me to really appreciate.)
Well I think the main reason the gantz manga isnt having much character development is because I think the series is going to wrap up soon or so it seems that way atleast. Since character development generally happen in the beginning and mid story and rarely we see much character development near the end unless you count the resolution. I simply dont know how they would continue the series anymore as it is now once this arch finishes since + Show Spoiler +
the gantz ball is no longer functional and they are complete war with the alien or w/e. I guess they can possess the other Kei and make him evil which is definitely a possibility but beside that I dont see how the story can progress without degrading the series.
If it not, then I can definitely see your point at this endless pointless violence for sure since that all it been doing for the last 100 chapters lol.
KS is very special to me. Watching it grow from a throwaway concept art from the back of an obscure doujin to a full fledged VN after three, four years. It was the first instance when I truly feel that online, voluntary collaboration are capable of great things.
(The is a nsfw visual novel, as it contains erotic themes, however they can be turned off if needed.)
First words I have personally always been a huge fan of good hentai/ecchi games, especially when they come up with a good storyline. And yes, Katawa Shoujo falls under this very category. It's been over 3 years since Four Leaf Studios (from 4chan.org) published the act one, and I've been waiting for this game ever since.
About Visual Novels For those who haven't been playing visual novels before I'd say now it's a good time to try out the genre. And for those who don't want the hentai parts of the game, there will be option to have them turned off and just play the game as a romantic story. Basically what visual novel stands for, it's kind of like reading an interactive book, which usually comes with voice acting/sound effects, scenery art and player chosen story routes where your decisions effect the outcome of the story (some VN's don't give player possibly to choose from different story routes, and act more like a book, however Katawa Shoujo does allow the player prefered decisions.)
Background story (minor spoilers) The game tells about a boy who get's ill with a very serious heart decease and has to quit normal school. Because of this he has to transfer to a school for disabled people so that their conditions can be supervised also during the school. There he end's up meeting few other disabled girls and guys (for anyone looking for Yaoi, from what I understood, there won't be any in this game, sorry ) and from there on it's up to the player to make decisions about who you want to get more familiar with. Even find romantic relationships in a place where you might've never expected to find it before.
My thoughts on the story The story itself is rather unique thanks to the fact that it's based around disabled people, and it's one of those subjects that people seem to avoid a lot when creating stories, especially when the story involves romance. Which is kinda sad, since this game really shows well how much personality disabled people can have inside them and I'm sure it'll also make lot of people who play it to realize, how normal people they actually can be.
Last words Anyways, that's my thoughts on the subject and hope people will enjoy the game once it's out tomorrow (4th of January). Also the game will be !free! so I see no reason why people shouldn't test it out. How ever, the game does indeed contain sexual themes so some parental control is advised for underage people.

But then again, that used to be something that was just done in TLADT. Everyone just said "real admission into this thread is watching School Days".
So I was like. Yeah! Let's watch it!
And then dat ending. >.>

Even though the "hey what anime should I watch?" posts are annoying, doesn't mean you actually have to respond to them. Rather than posting "lolschool days" and other such trollage, just ignore the post. Its like people think they HAVE to respond no matter what, cuz gotta get that post count +1.
In another news, I finished the parts of the Full Metal Panic: Sigma manga that covers up to Continuing on my Own. They completely skipped over a Dancing Merry Christmas, but other than that it did the LNs justice pretty much. Some techno-babble and details from the LNs are gone, but its a manga, so thats understandable. I really like how the art in this is decent enough for you to be able to follow whats happening in the battles, more or less at least. From what I read in the MuvLuv Unlimited and Alternative mangas, following the mech scenes in those is next to impossible, but with FMP:S I can at least attempt it. Time to start Burning One Man Force, in manga form.

If I ever need a cheer up, it will be this one:
It gets me everytime. K-On is meh for me even though I butchered my eyes through two seasons.

I played the tutorial for this a while back. Got about 1 hour into it till I realized that I was playing a VN, not a eroge, and that my hopes of "rubbing one out" wasnt gonna be satisfied anytime soon. Will definitely give this VN another chance though, when I have the time.
Ah shit, this arc got a new OP, I guess that means itll be extended for at least another 10 eps. At this rate Ill have caught up on Fairy Tail in no time. Not sure if thats a good thing or bad thing... I really dont wanna end up reading the manga cause I got impatient. = /
But this arc is super good atm. Guys just keep coming back, like "WTF", hes back? And this dude? And the "Whoa, wtf, I thought this guy was dead". And Im still loving how everything is slowly weaving together. Hope they keep this up.
Also: "Nice body Lucy" Haha, I always crack up at that part. And Juvia, oh god Juvia, shi shi drop. So damn cow-eyeeeee <3

There are plenty of Nukiges out there for those purposes. Story driven VNs are to be read intellectually. (not really) but are meant to be enjoyed in a different way

If it not, then I can definitely see your point at this endless pointless violence for sure since that all it been doing for the last 100 chapters lol.
Hm, I guess I can rest in peace knowing that me creeping on cosplaying girls isn't as unusual as I would think- uh, I mean that it's cool that people like anime a lot in Seoul. I've only been to one anime convention myself in November and I had a nerdga- nerd chills and a super fun time. I bought so much Madoka and Code Geass stuff and my first manga volume (Mahou Sensei Negima!). Hopefully, I can go to another anime con this weekend, if everything goes according to plan. Where I live, Arizona USA, there isn't really that much of an anime fanbase. All 4 of the anime conventions are really, really small and are outshadowed by the big Comic Con, which thankfully has an anime department.
The think I don't like about Gantz besides the extreme gore and nudity combination (which did eventually subside, the nudity at least) is the plot holes. + Show Spoiler +
The main plot hole is regarding the vampires. The vampires were introduced as aliens that had infiltrated human society and were pretty powerful (able to call up large groups of armed vampires and had good organization), but then the vampires disappeared when the alien invasion of earth happened. Even the 2 hostage vampires suddenly vanished. It seemed like the entire existence of the vampires was to kill what's-his-face-who-liked-killing-people. I was also disappointed with how many characters were introduced and then killed off in the first 50 chapters. The mangaka did bring some back, but he literally introduced them in one chapter, made it as if they would be a main character, and then kill them in the next chapter. >.< /endrant
I do expect Gantz to end soon since I follow SheaR619's logic. It's time for me to stop reading 300+ chapter long mangas. x_x
No one ever dies in fairy tail. So far that a fact and yes, I think the Wendy arc and the introduction of wendy was done pretty well. I prefer the edolas arc though :q

Found the first two episodes ok, added to the uh back burner list or whatever school days is on. Which I decided to start about a month ago, roughly at the year mark of reading ADT, 3 episodes down so far.
Fractale.. I managed to finish it. Dont watch it. (especially If you didnt like No.6 minus the BL) your not going to like the boringly done themes and motifs its exploring.,,
fractale lures you in with a feeling of ghibli or Nadia - Secret of Blue Water... and then... fails so hard you want to punch yourself for expecting something better.

The best part about Fractale is Yamakan threatening to retire because he realized that his show sucked and that he was jealous of Madoka. It got like record low ratings too. Didn't Hourou Musuko get really low ratings as well? That show was actually good : /

Didn't watched a ton till the winter season HunterxHunter - great adaptation so far occasionally feels like what could have been dragged out too two episodes in one c3 - amusing insanity Mirai nikki - have resisted the manga so far, different sort of insanity. horizon - enjoying it, sort of feels like the cast of a star ocean but larger. Haganai - started and ended well not a fan of the middle, found the first few episodes hilarious. Guilty Crown - interesting so far Last exile - It's pretty at least, so far bit disappointed otherwise, hurray for more people showing up from the first show. Madoka - loved it morita-san - slowly watching, reminded me of animaniacs for some reason yuru yuri - was entertaining ano hana - 4 episodes in and love it so far started fractal makes me think ghiblish kids show so far
will likely watch sometime Steins;Gate Hanasaku Iroha decided to watch ano hana first.

fractale sucks so much
I felt the same way. I dropped it after ep 3 or whatever? I seem to do this a lot ...
I actually stuck it out hoping it'd get better. It doesn't. Don't watch it.
Found the first two episodes ok, added to the uh back burner list or whatever school days is on. Which I decided to start about a month ago, roughly at the year mark of reading ADT, 3 episodes down so far.
Fractale.. I managed to finish it. Dont watch it. (especially If you didnt like No.6 minus the BL) your not going to like the boringly done themes and motifs its exploring.,,

btw did he actually follow through with that?
Not sure, but it doesn't look like hes done anything since. At least nothing more recent is listed on MAL or wikipedia.
