I like reading books and if they have pictures and voice acting it's even better.

Pretty much. It's fun and it's a nice difference from a normal book. Although sex scenes are a bit too detailed for my tastes >_>; always skip them.

Stories are stories I like good stories also big ongoing stories as well it seems, Hello big 3 and star wars EU caught up on neither at the moment though. Haven't exactly read many visual novels, books on the other hand. Have read a ton, though haven't been reading too much this past month 3-400 pages of gods and generals. Mostly just read when on the ttc or sometimes when eating at the moment.

Gin no Toki no Corona:Full Clear
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/pmlV9.png) Some thoughts, like ecael said it wasn't AWESOME, but it was definitely a decent one I've seen in a while. The combat mechanics are pretty cool. The attack animations, they did an ok job. The trash mobs are way too annoying to kill. I swear after Ecael told me about shield breaker, Trash became the hardest thing about the game. Story wise it played out ok. And certainly I felt it was better than Akatsuki Works. I had a fun time playing it. But I found myself kind of left-ctrl over everything because they did the time loop thing like 3-4 times towards the end I just don't feel like reading anymore -.-" I felt like they over used that theme.
|
The time loop thing turned out more or less ok tbh, just that execution wise they did a lot better with Nega0 than how they managed here. The first 3 runs have a ton of repetition in the ADV portions, so yeah a lot of part to ctrl on. The theme in itself isn't exactly a problem, they even fixed a lot of the problems that's present with using that as a plot device and worked out some decent things to work with it, just that all that barely hits par. The tie-in to the main Yumina world is also kind of weak, plus a few points suggesting that they want to continue milking the merchandise, etc etc. Gameplay wise it is a neat play on the same timing mechanisms as Eien Shinken, but suffers a bit from confusion because of 3x amount of shit to guess proper timings on, oops.
Meh that's why there are other SLG making companies that I can look forward to. Eternal please just headhunt the scriptwriter for Shinken back. Or grow a pair and make more fun stuff like Nega0. Or suck it up and take a year+ to do a Yumina game properly (oh wait that's Corona).

I've only done two VN Clannad and ... I forget the entire title of the other one something Wheel Country or some sort? They were okay, but I don't really ever think of wanting to do more just because it would take me forever now due to time constraints.

I am watching Penguindrum right now and got to episode 16 and it's getting more crazy with every episode. Like every charcter in that anime is crazy and the girls are all stalkers

That's the one. It was pretty enjoyable for the most part. Clannad was hard for me having watched the anime first and the art in the VN being kind of nasty.

Unfortunately AK2 stuff tend to be highly overrated, as they're often paraded as the cream of the crop but in reality their stories (IMO anyways) tend to have like an interesting premise, a bunch of filler characters, and one giant crucial twist that leads into a explosions and tears type of ending.
In that sense as much as I dislike it as a whole, I found G-sen more satisfying than Sharin as it made me shed some tears, as opposed to just eye-rolling over most of Sharin zzz

I mean, if your point is that most VNs suck, they do. No one's disputing that, and Ecael and I have been harsh critics of them. There're a lot of great VNs (that haven't been translated lolol) though that keep us reading.

it's the same with books you have good and bad ones. And so far the stories I had in VNs I could not find in a book, just like with some animes and normal TV shows.

You can assume in general that the ones that do get a real translation have some sort of merit to them so you're avoiding the hundreds of nukiges that get released every year.
That said, I heard a Kamidori trans patch should be coming out soon~

Since were still on the topic of VNs, anyone know of a Amagami port to PC with english translations?
|
I'm pretttty sure that Amagami is only available on PS2 and PSP. If you have a good enough PC, you can emulate either platform. I don't think there are any English translations.

If you have to play it you could always download the ps2 version and run it with emulator (I had graphical glitches when I tried it). English translation seems highly unlikely in any case considering that it isn't particularly good.
It does have fairly easy to understand language if you want to practice, but then again it's probably better to find a VN for PC instead.

The logic behind this is that all books are better than all VNs, which just isn't the case. There are alot of bad VNs, but there are good ones as well, which are worth a read if you like to read. Thats really all there is to it.
