In essence, it means to like break the atmosphere with a poor joke. I think a more literal translation would be to "freeze" the atmosphere.

That seems like such a shallow and thin definition...I still don't understand. So it's a character whose sole purpose is basically to make things awkward?

Oh, and I didn't explain tsundoro (that doesn't look like from this thread, Mystlord, you pulled that from hongfire?) because it is a spoiler for novel. Mori, Seiken no Blacksmith and Railgun from this season should count?

Or maybe I'm just a girl. -___-;; On October 05 2009 09:11 Ecael wrote: PH, don't even worry about the definition, they are for SUPER minor character genres. Just know that they are both used to describe Hitagi from Bakemonogatari. Ok. Now it all makes sense to me... -_- I didn't understand how that could be a "the new tsundere" or whatever the previous person was saying, lol.

PH, it was just a lighthearted joke stemmed from the whole thing where Hitagi claims there is a word that surpasses moe (I fastforwarded through that episode, friend said it wasn't in anime, at least not in detail) as well as repeated reminded from Araragi that Hitagi goes after the popularization of minor character genres, thus it is the next tsundere ![]() Or I need a better sense of humor.

Ahaha... And I'm going to watch Bakemonogatari and Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei within the next few days. edit - T_T There was a lot of stuff I liked this summer (perhaps obviously)... What are you looking for, preference-wise? :x my suggestions, I feel, are good - but assume you have about two weeks isolated from society for anime watching >_>;;

The anime world seems to be getting more populated with crappy high school harems and slice of lifes. I don't know what you consider recent, but there's Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann...maybe Fate/Stay Night Also, I like slice of life Not every story needs to be about killin people and blowin up stuff.

I actually watched Saki all the way through. It really makes me wanna play Mahjong again. Season 2 gogogo I'm in the middle of watching TTGL right now. OP is perty cool. Was it just me, or was episode 4 a little... different?

If just by it'd be neat to watch, CANAAN, Tears to Tiara, Valkyria Chronicles and probably Yoku wakaru gendai mahou. Can't say anything about Spice and Wolf since I didn't watch this season (vowed to catch up to light novels first, except I am stuck in an endless loop of rereading bakemonogatari series and denpateki na kanojo). With Pandora Hearts one is probably better off reading manga, though it does have Kajiura Yuki music, an element often enough to make it worth watching something.

Slice of life is okay. It's just getting old because there's just a ton of just decent slice of life animes out now.

In other words, the directing, animation directing, and storyboards were all done differently. Nanoha's hot springs episode really grated on me that way, but I think it works ok for TTGL.
