Madoka is actually isn't a troll suggestion. It was really popular when it airred, and alot of people here loved it. Personally, I don't really agree that it was great/amazing or anything, but its worth a watch.

first episode looked interesting and the art is done by gainax so the quality is fine.

The LNs were like a less well developed version of Kino no Tabi so I was kind of hesistant about watching ani,e I might end up watching anyway though.

I actually wanted to watch Kampfer but judging by the responses in this thread, it would be like pulling my own nails out with a pair of pliers.

I don't know about the better writing part....Animation is meh, voice acting I guess. but it's the story, Maybe there is just too many anime nowadays so we recognize bad story writing as common

Present day anime lacks guts. These days, making a 110 episode for a non-shounen show is unlikely at best. A 110 episode OVA series? Very unlikely. A 110 episode OVA series + 52 additional OVAs for the OVA series? The producers would probably be called insane. And yet they managed to pull this off way back when.
I don't know how you arrived at the conclusion that present day anime has better writing than older series when both eras are swimming in a metric fuckton of bad titles.
