Yeah, the premise was good, and Ga Rei Zero showed us just how good it could be. The manga, on the other hand, waffled around for a long time before doing anything remotely interesting with it. In my opinion, the content of the manga did improve around the middle, but then the rushed ending kinda spoiled everything. The entire last arc could've been cut out with no harm done to the rest of the story.

+ Show Spoiler +You really must have the same taste as I do, because I stopped reading that after 20 or 30 or so chapters....in fact I'm sort of a semi-jack-of-all-trades in that I've read or heard of most mangas, but am not as accomplished as you guys. That being said, I trust your judgment, and upon reflection (this wasn't too long ago but I don't recall that well because I didn't read much of it), it really was pretty wishy-washy.
Call it rose-colored-glasses-esque reflection, but do most of you guys think that manga as a whole has sort of died down recently--i.e. that the "golden age", so to speak, has passed and all we're left with is generic and/or recycled and/or boring stuff? I have friends who read/watch more than I do, though I know enough to understand easily the gist of what you guys are discussing. They're conviced you guys are crazy/perverse though heh.
Anyway we've been sort of bemoaning the lack of freshness and creativity and whatnot lately...and I'm wondering about your guys' opinions on that.

are you thinking actual "yuri mecha" because Nanoha just has yuri and "mecha," but it's not yuri mecha. unless you want to classify magical girls as being part mecha, then yeah, it's yuri mecha.
