You should watch Code Geass, which is more of an action, drama, mech, and adventure anime. However, it is considered one of the most famous and well-made animes. Usually, if you go to anime sites it's listed as one of the top 10 (I think). In addition, there are several spin-off mangas. It's really good though so check it out!

Just don't watch R2. Leave it at Season one.
Also, Katanagatari.

EDIT - Oh yeah, for whoever asked at some point, Eustia is pretty enjoyable so far. At this rate I might not play any Kamidori till I finish Eustia. I mean seriously Elise is almost an yandere~

I second whoever said Katanagatari.
I feel it's been overshadowed by some of the other shows from the other season, but it was pretty damn good.

I'll give five dollars through paypal to whoever can find the song I hum in this, I am desperate.

On May 01 2011 07:47 zalz wrote:Show nested quote +I can paraphrase this as "boohoo other people like what I don't like". Popularity never had anything to do with "objective" goodness. More people watch Idols then "The Sopranos". You might have gone to Nihilism college but i tend to disagree that popularity instantly means a show has merit. Generic moe shows, and yes that includes the ooh so loved K-on, are wastes of money. People can like what they like but it doesn't mean it's good. Like i said you might be all about the "everything is good, everything is bad, live and let die brah" but i don't consider those generic moe trash shows to be on the same level as Kaiji. Show nested quote +Neither of these examples are actually applicable. If you learn Japanese you can improve your own situation, unlike with the soccer player. You did not give any fansub group money to have them sub for your specific tastes, unlike the case with the car.
These sub groups don't have anything to hear from you. In fact, the people behind these groups work their asses off to get a decent sub out and they do it because they like to do what they do. It might surprise the modern anime watcher but the people behind fansubs are not actually human robot slaves that cater to everyone's needs. It's a terribly ungrateful volunteer position.
In fact, when you mentioned soccer, you implied that you need not the skill but the understanding in order to be critical. It is clear to me that you have neither.
So shut up and learn Japanese. If they love it so much but my words are ooh soo hurtfull then they can just decided to wonder if it's worth it and then not bother. I get shows on my TV for free, doesn't mean i am going to watch them and praise them all just because they are free. If a sub group is doing a bad job like releasing a sub 4-5 days after the show itself then my response isn't to ask where they live so i can send them flowers and say thanks. Just because it's free doesn't mean it's instantly good. It's not ungratefull at all. This idea that just because something is free it's good is just so simplistic and frankly disingenuous. Nobody thinks like that and nobody acts like that. People bash free stuff all the time but when it's something they like they get all high and mighty and say "it's free, love it". It's a false argument because whenever something comes around that you don't like and wich happens to be free, you would just as easily bash it.
"We must always be courteous towards those who show us kindness."
The fact is, fansubbers are providing you with the only way to watch most anime in English/whatever language, a tremendous service, without being paid for it (except Crunchyroll). And IMO, they should just stop subbing altogether when faced with the legion of ungrateful otaku brats that await the releases so they can go "OMG Y U TAKE SO LONG?!" and then call them fags whenever there is a mistake. I certainly wouldn't share the subs I made with people like that.
Also, it's fine that you don't like moe anime and I don't about that you don't, but I highly suggest you leave your hate posts at the door. It creates a poor posting atmosphere. Many regular posters here (I myself included) do like moe anime. The ADT has survived this long as an only semi-depressing place, let's keep it this way.
Finally, leave K-ON! alone! It hasn't done anything to you! ;_;
Edit: Want to play as Rance? PLAY SENGOKU RANCE. Duh.

Not sure if anyone's even awake/cares at this hour (yay for fucked up sleep schedules) but gonna take a shower and then stream a PSP game (or two, depending on whether the first one lives up to the hype or not)... :x

Or you can supplement with more moe! :D
Of the animes this season, I think I'm constantly looking forward to Nichijou. I'm liking it a lot. It's like a modern Azumanga Daioh but with all the moe of a Kyoani production.

The Story of the Final Promise.
it's about a group of knights left behind in a falling village due to an invasion, "a story about their final day."
They wield golden weapons that they can use in exchange for their souls... and it slowly chips away and/or they just die and unload the ultimate.
Quite a morbid premise :3 the idea is that you have to sacrifice characters along the way.
