No, I mean, after watching Moshidora, go around acting like you have read the book, and just cite what you saw in the anime when you discuss it. No one will know the difference o3o how is moshidora, btw?(anime)

Basically like this:

Insert clever references to Peter Drucker to satisfy the business people. Then add a cliche but heartwarming sports story about a crappy team that suddenly dominates and wins a championship. Mix with tear jerking tale about wounded girl chara (come on, they wouldn't introduce her just to be a mentor). Finally add cute high school girl protag to charm readers.
And now you've got a home run (lolpun).

The first episode got me hooked. Pretty cool. It was mentioned a page or two ago. Ferrose summed it up pretty nicely: it's just a typical sports anime with a little business jargon thrown in for good measure. Still, it's not bad.

Ferrose's explanation is pretty good.
Fuck it. I'm buying it. :D The book sounds interesting anyhow.

I think it's worth watching. It's not bad, and if anything, it kept me attracted to it without any points I think where I got bored.

Anyone still watching SKET Dance? I dropped it after the first EP, but if it's worth continuing I will.
edit: Amagami SS OVA is out ~

Ao no Exorcist surprising me with a remarkably more deep set of themes :3
Tiger and Bunny hilariously weird.

Yeah, I'm glad I picked up Ao no Exorcist. I'm really enjoying the general theme of the show and the characters as a whole. Though, I kind of hate those mole/birthmarks on his brothers face.

Hmmm...this is a really, really random question, but as I'd like to confine my time wasted during this intense study session to only a few points, I'd like to ask:
What would be your guys' idea of a perfect anime/manga/VN?
You've all seen/read/played enough to instantly know what's up when they do X, Y, or Z (i.e. they throw in this or that to appeal to a certain audience, or the storyline is this type, etc.)--that is, you all have a more or less holistic view of the industry, but what would be your idea of a perfect anime/manga/VN? It's completely subjective, so the question is also up to your interpretation: whether you want something that's unlike anything you've ever experienced, or you want precisely this voice actor playing this role, this company/mangaka, etc.
Just wondering

Mine would be a Mech Sim game that used characters from Universal Century Gundam but reversed their genders so that I could get an H scene with a yandere Char and a tsundere Amuro.
For Visual Novels at least.

Something like a mix between Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Getter Robo would be the perfect anime. Having the plot and depth of LoGH, combined with the scale, the tactics, the characters, and then mix that with the gritty, awesome, manly, over-the-topness of Getter Robo. Gunbuster probably is the closest thing to attempt something like that, although it wasn't nearly long enough to truely get close to the LoGH feel. Imagine a 100 episode run for Gunbuster, with that quality maintained through the whole thing, except Gunbuster is piloted by Ryoma and Hayato. I need to go change pants now.

Yeah, we had it originally set during April 30th. Apparently it's an important holiday in Madoka lol. Oh well.
I was thinking maybe we can get together some time and like, watch a season finale of some epic show or something. I don't know, but only two months before I'm off to Japan so if we do something like this it should be soon! UCSD otaku unite!

More like an important holiday in central Europe.

Heh well I don't think any currently airing anime will be epic enough to warrant a party, but if you guys wanna do something like that before finals week hits, let me know and we can actually plan something seriously this time. If you want it to be really big, maybe contact the UCSD anime club whose existence I barely know of x.x
Speaking of 2 months from now, is anyone planning to go to Anime Expo this summer? I've never gone but since my otaku nature has developed greatly in the past year, I think I'll probably go.

UCSD anime club is still alive? I've heard things about it but I'm kind of scared. Otaku IRL can be pretty weird.
I can't go to AX this summer but I went last summer. It's okay if you plan to go only one day; any longer is overkill I feel. I got to see Kitamura Eri and Horie Yui on the day I went so it was worth it. AX is mostly about the guests you get to meet imo, but they do have some pretty sick stuff for sale in the exhibition hall and you can see some pretty cool cosplay. Before I went I was skeptical about the crowd I'd see there but there were actually some pretty cute chicks. I was surprised.
But yeah, if you go you should only go one day, and make sure you pick a day with good guests and stuff. If you go multiple days you'll probably spend most of the time not doing anything.
|
yeah apparently they still have weekly viewings but I've never gone for the exact reason you stated
hmm thanks for the tips. I was planning to go for most of the days because I actually live up in norcal so it wouldn't really be worth it to drive down just for a single day, but I can see the logic in not having anything to do past day 1 if there's no guests I want to see. However, if that's the case, then that means I'll be able to attend AX as well as NASL finals live
Also, just watched Deadman Wonderland 3. I don't understand why they censor so much. Considering how much blood *should* be in the show, I don't see why a couple words need to be censored. Aside from that, it's proceeding fairly accurately from what I recall from the manga. They changed a couple things but hopefully the fight scenes are done well without excess censorship.
