It explains why Ace and Luffy look so similar even though they're completely unrelated. It explains why Roger would entrust Ace's life to Garp simply on a "hunch." It explains why Roger would walk up to Rayleigh out of nowhere and ask him to join his crew while looking so god damn similar to Luffy and wearing the straw hat. And it also explains why Luffy is seemingly Roger incarnate with all of his characteristics and abilities. There are some holes in the theory like where did the scar on Roger's eye go or why no one mentions that Roger had Gomu abilities but while I have no explanation for the former, the latter could have been Blackbeard sucking out Luffy's Gomu fruit in their final fight or something. | ||

It is a family name, after all. I will just assume that a purebred will of D. person would very much look like Roger. Probably more like Luffy and Garp than Ace, since Ace's mother Portgas D. Rouge was a very west european looking blond woman. Ace's freckles are probably inherited from his mother's side. | ||

It's something people like Robin talk about. There are a number of people like that have a middle name of "D." All these people seem to be special in a way, drawing attention whether they want to or not. What exactly it is has not been figured out yet.
