And Law's awakening is... he can make his sword phase through people to get past defenses? That's pretty cool, I guess. I fail to see how kid can even damage her without ACOC unless he attracts all those explosives in underground basement to her body. Law's kroom is lame. I wish awakening was something like 3-4x expansion of his room or something like that. He can kill anyone he wants now since he's bypassing their defense and targeting their organs. Seems like haki is not even applicable here. Who knew kinemon was alive!?? Another fake out death and no sense of tension. I don't care that entire island is falling down nor that ghost is putting fire on everything. Who cares? our people will be fine. it don't matter
Welcome to fiction where the main characters dont die!

They aren't main chracters though. Also, the fake-out deaths are what I'm criticizing.

Yeah the Kinemon case was a pretty cheap cop-out. Yet, it was expected because Pell Lives

Who cares? our people will be fine. it don't matter I don't think Kid needs to hurt her, he can just trap her in a giant iron prison, depending on how long the magnetism lasts. Honestly I think it's a great way of taking her out of the picture without taking the spotlight away from Kaido. This was meant to be Kaido's arc after all. Big Mom is not the main event, he is. If both Big Mom and Kaido go down then it kind of cheapens Luffy's victory.
As for Law's power being OP... his fruit was always OP. It is called the OP OP no mi after all

Curious how long Law+Kidd will last vs Big Mom with the awakening. It looks like they can do damage but how far much damage (Doffy had awakening too and he kinda shitted by better haki easily)

Remember Pell literally tanking a bomb ? Yeah it is kinda a thing at this point we just accept it cause he's clearly not changing the formula (Oda that is)
I've watched/read one piece long enough to know that characters rarely die and even Oda expressed that. Their dreams just die as a way for them to lose.

Their dreams just die as a way for them to lose. I mean Pell did it once and I'm not sure if anyone else did in that arc. And imo that's still the only weak point of the arc. Feels like Kinemon dies every 5 minutes and still somehow isn't dead.
Like I think the number of fake deaths this arc surpasses the number of actual deaths by a lot. I'm not bothered by characters getting knocked out instead of killed, that kinda always was the case in OP. But there are imo too many fake deaths this arc.

Why would Big Mom waste a year of her own lifespan? She's 68 years old. Whitebeard was 72 when he died and he was already suffering from bad health. Can she collect other people's lifespans and give it to herself? If so, then that's fine. But I don't think that's the case because then she wouldn't look so old.
|
Imagine her trying to power herself up by eating her own lifespan and then she just keels over and dies from old age.
Tbf Whitebeard was basically a cancer patient on life support 24/7 outside of the Marineford war. Big Mom is comparetively healthy so she's still got a few years left.
|
Exactly, Whitebeard was on medical support due to his age and probably alcoholism. His reaction speed went to shit, allowing a nobody like Squadroo to stab him. Embarrassing. His heart also gave out in the middle of his fight with Akainu, causing him to plant a solid magma fist in his chest. And he was only 4 years older than Big Mom is right now. Well, 3 technically, since Big Mom just shaved a year off her life, which is quite awful since Big Mom really doesn't seem that healthy to me. She's probably right on the cusp of becoming a geriatric with awful eating habits. I'd be surprised if she didn't have diabetes already. Even if she wins this fight against Kid and Law, I don't think she'll remain an "Empress" for much longer.

My mate, its this mentality the prevents you from becoming the pirate king!

Nitpicking all day long, aren't you ?
Big Mom could be half giant and giants could have longer lifespans than humans in OP, y'know ?
|
Isn't it just the point that Big Mom could technically live forever since she feeds off others' souls? So doesn't really matter if she uses a bit of her own span in this situation where quality stuff is scarce.
|
I dont think she can put souls into other living things, including herself? I think the only case where she can is if soul is being put back into it's original owner
|
We all know power scaling is not really relevant anymore in one piece. It's all about the progression within the series. I bet admirals are serious threats to our protagonists next time. I think BB/Akainu will be stronger than BM/KD
|
when were the admirals not serious threats? and its been obvious for a long time that the final bosses were going to be blackbeard and the admirals
|
Choosing a final antagonist between Blackbeard and Akainu is hard, and I like that

i dont have to see anymore to know already that this is going to be an absolute disaster. i dont understand why producers continue to embarrass themselves with live action adaptations of animes. nothing they do will appease fans or be considered good

But I get your point and these are much much easier to do than OP. Also both were Japanese productions, I've heard only bad things about netflix anime live action adaptions.
