and Garp was a monsterhouse back in the day and Roger prolly did not even have most of his crew back then, so Garp+Roger duo alone defeated them?! Shanks is so high even though he does nothing cruel a pirate does | ||

Also interesting to note that they note the high bounties all across Shanks' crew, which is in line with how I've seen them for a while. A small, compact crew of powerful combatants. Really nice chapter. | ||

It's also worth noting Kaido and Big Mom are hardly getting stronger individually despite their merger causing their bounties to inflate dramatically. If anything Blackbeards bounty seems real low, he's half the bounty of Kaido despite his expanding crew, his outfitting them with pretty strong Devil Fruits and whatever mysterious magical bullshit Blackbeard himself has with his dual devil fruits. EDIT: Idve hoped to see how they value Mihawk though, of all of the Shichibukai he seems like he'd be the Yonkou quality one, but I guess his listless loner lifestyle doesn't warrant him a serious bounty a la the other monstrously strong Yonko | ||

God Valley is probably a place on the world where the Celestial Dragons (Gods) would hang out. They have their lofty peaks (Mary Geoise), but also their Valley. Perhaps that was a place where they would do terrible things with their slaves. I think they simply wiped it from the world (sunk to the bottom of the sea) after the Rocks Pirate attack, but it could be the location of the missing Red Ponyglyph. Now they no longer keep Mary Geoise pure since the destruction of God Valley. Also, I like how they remind us that Shanks is linked to Kozuki Oden. Oda just slipped that in there very casually. And then I thought about Denjiro, the still missing samurai. Why not go out to sea with an old friend for 20 years? There is an unnamed man in Shank’s crew with a sword and a ponytail. He has blonde hair, which would be odd for Wano, but not impossible. So how does Luffy beat Kaido? Perhaps with the aid of The Red Hair Pirates brought in by Denjiro. I don’t think they’re going to have to defeat Big Mom yet. I think the alliance with Kaido allows Big Mom to conquer the giants without fear of Kaido joining the fight to destroy her. So I think she’s going to go off almost immediately and ignore Luffy because she has something within her reach that she has wanted for a long time. | ||

So he'd be 19 years old when Oden was killed. He'd be slightly younger than that during Roger's Last Voyage (where Oden joined). Sounds about right. Shanks was a cabin boy on Roger's crew and was likely in his early-mid teens. I see that during the battle of Edd War (Roger vs Shiki), he was part of Roger's crew as a 12 year old. edit: by comparison, Luffy is currently 19 and was 17 when he set out. | ||

It was cool when the Straw Hats were new to piracy and enemies with bigger bounties kept showing up. I don't see why marines would be discussing yonkou bounties at all. Everyone knows who these people are and what they're capable of. | ||
