Aizen makes the key, goes to meet the king. This is the most likely route since Kubo will get to introduce the king's guard, and therefore, roughly 20 new (possibly disposable) characters. As for character development... Well, there hasn't really been any for the last hundred or so chapters, so why start now? | ||

It's setting up for a fight with an even stronger yet unexplained foe, at the same time they're stripping down Ichigo of his strength due to his super power. I'm sure he's somehow going to get it back but really what the heck. | ||

Also - the hogyoku no longer thinks Aizen is worthy, so I'd guess that it considers Ichigo it's new master and thereby giving back his powers? :x | ||
