The humorous parts were the best and the Grandma really stole all the scenes she was in. Think one thing that really bothered me was the soundtrack. There were moments of quiet emotion that got ruined by jarring, overdramatic music. It was like a sign lighting up saying "you're supposed to feel sad here". Also I didn't connect with Awkwafina very much for some reason. I wanted to spend more time following the other family members rather than mostly her. Curious what other people thought since the film seems to be getting only praise it seems. I thought Awkwafina's character would resonate more with the second-generation to immigrants or those who have gone through similar family situations. My personal enjoyment of the film was greatly enhanced by my background as a second-generation Chinese, for example. What particular contemplative scenes bothered you with the soundtrack? I didn't think the soundtrack was particularly disruptive in those scenes, but there were some waiting or walking scenes, sometimes shot in slow-mo, that felt kinda off pacing-wise.

It was better than I expected - I think waiting a couple of years before watching it might have helped. I would say its a better than average movie, better probably than either TFA or TLJ. That said, its about 45 minutes too long. Fleabag was good as the droid and I always enjoy a bit of Donald Glover. To be fair it really felt like a proper Star Wars movie.

I encourage everyone to go and see Once Upon a Time... it is amazing and probably the best "modern" Tarantino film. Other movie that I recently watched and have to mention is Denis Villeneuve's Enemy. If you like David Lynch-esque mindfucks then this is for you. 9/10

Arrival is pretty much my favourite movie of the last 20 years. I think i might have to watch this one today or tomorrow. I love how melancholy and beautiful his films are

With actors that are 20 years older? Let's hope they're a support or something like that at best. On August 17 2019 14:05 Jockmcplop wrote: What's Enemy like? You're plunged into it the entire way through, kinda like with Arrival, but then the setting's different. I feel like that's where he likes his viewer, between anxiety and curiosity.

Age shouldn't matter, but making a 54 year old guy play a 34 year old, would be insanely offensive to everyone involved. But I'm already speculating way past my bedtime here. Let's just say: age matters conditionally. At least for me anyway.

Bit of a negative nancy here T_T but i hate when they take so long, i mean i think Avatar will have a similar issue for example when that series reboots with 2-3-4 or how many ever Cameron milks out of us xD

Hotel Mumbai - taut movie based on the 2008 terrorist attack in India. The violence of the attacks was filmed convincingly, with the people reacting as you would expect when thrust in that situation. The heroism of the whole hotel staff was not quite clearly shown though, because of the film's focus on one recognizable actor to play this role that mutes the bravery of the other staff, even though he played it very well. Great movie, great acting, based on real events.

Yeah, i feel like another Matrix is as needed as another Pulp Fiction. Matrix should never have gotten a sequel and it's worse off for it. Too bad they decided to milk it.
