When it comes to disney, nothing beats Emperor's New Groove. Nothing (maybe Treasure Planet, but it's not so musical).

Just saw Ant-man.

The movie was crazy good. The beginning was rather slow, but they handled all the background and exposition in it so that later portion of the movie could be all just crazy action so I didn't mind. The acting was a bit wooden and some attempts at slapstick weren't top notch but I let it slide. Apart from those minor issues I must say that I've enjoyed this movie way more than the latest Avengers. It was awkward, it was fun, it had some great characters and awesome scenes, I laughed out loud in the cinema. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy some light-hearted entertainment in the era of grimdark movies.

I mean, c'mon, you gotta love scenes like that:

Atlantis>Treasure Planet imo.

I am from Minnesota, so Fargo is an interesting experience, actually the directors are from the suburb next to the one I grew up in called Saint Louis Park.

The accent they do is probably about right for where Fargo actually is, getting stronger the closer that you get to Canada

http://video.tpt.org/video/2365042610/

Made me think of this bit, which apparently the actors looked at called, How to Talk Minnesotan. It is pretty funny.

Jurrasic World 4/10

Now the trailer made it look, like they took a beloved franchise and turned it into the utmost stupid mainstream action flick. Gladly the movie is actually rather smart and stays true to the values of the original movie. I could not warm up for the female lead, and too many stories are told too halfheartedly.

A World Beyond: Tomorrowland 6/10

I just wanted to love this movie, did not work, I probably overrated it, but it has much heart and tons of redeeming qualities. It also has illogical characters, pacing problems and a confusion about it's target group, with silly fights choreographed for 6year olds, a plot aimed at teenagers and casting choices for people in their thirties.

Only lovers left Alive 10/10

This is a slow movie. Not much is happening either. If you can live with that and like a more elegant portrait of vampires, aswell as fancying talyor swinton, this movie is for you! "Have the water wars started yet?".

No not at all. They do focus on the wonder and exploration part, about selling science as awesome and try to paint a believable portrait of how a place like this could exist in our current world. I also liked how they explored the very beings of dinosaurs with chriss prats storyline.

Sure it end with a ridiculous and stupid fight scene, but hey, that was almost funny.
Like the first 30 minutes are quite watchable imo. And 4/10 is not advising go and see that movie, it still failed, the original though from the values was not that different, just excelled in every aspect...I guess the new one lacked the goldblum^^.

I agree with you on the first 30 minutes being pretty good. I just yesterday rewatched the first jurassic park however, and I have to say how you can even compare them is beyond me. Im not about to declare it the best movie ever or some nonsense, but it is a masterfully crafted film, with a concise story, good characters, excellent writing except for 1 or 2 out of place lines, and some nice themes. Jurassic world lacks all of these things to be honest.

Ant-Man

Best freakin superhero blockbuster (is it one?) ever. The plot, the hero, the humor, the acting, battles, character, music, ending are all on point. But the best thing about Ant-Man is the novelty value of our man's ability. It's not pure machine like that joke Hawkman (whatever he is) or Iron Man, it's something thats actually inhuman skill and that involves insect even

In summary, the movie gets me the same way that The Minish Cap is the best Zelda game ever in my book. Yeah, not just about the shrinking skill but also all the freshness.

I think with any fandom, this flick would have hit like 9.0 on IMDB like all those overrated others. Ant-Man is kinda like another Guardian of the Galaxy but way more creative, more solid, more focused.

Well to be fair Michael Crichton wrote the script for the original and the source material itself is very good (a lot of what Crichton was writing about was groundbreaking technology at the time). Unfortunately, Jurassic World did a halfhearted exploration into a lot of the themes of the original. The original featured intelligent characters who each contributed a unique perspective to the problems of the park (the paleontologist who thought about the environmental/ecological concerns, the mathematician who questioned the ethics/outcome of the park, etc.), and Jurassic World just kind of tossed all that out the window. The characters were exceedingly one-dimensional, especially Vincent D'Onofrio's horribly written "villain" and BD Wong's awful portrayal of Dr. Wu. I don't think it's that the actors did a bad job though, the script was just so pathetic and forced that they had nothing to work with.

I love the books and their accompanying movies, but the last two movies have been pretty awful. Maybe they can make a Jurassic Park move where there are no human characters and all you see are dinosaurs.

Just watched Ex-Machina, 6/10. It's like most people said... It's an interesting topic, but that's most of what's going right for them. I was quite interested in the movie initially, and curious what would happen next at the initially.

As it got further on though, it become predictable, and everything about it was very unrealistic (I mean, aside from the AI part - for now). I didn't like how stupid Nathan was, like why is he drinking this much, doing this all alone is unrealistic, etc. And also like many said, it only touched the topic on the surface.

In the end, the movie wasn't that bad, but there was a lot of untapped potential that in the end put it in a class at the same level / below Gattacca, I Robot, and even a movie like Soylent Green... When it could've blown them all away.

I expected better. It wasn't bad though.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Some of those movies you hear about online, you just need to find for yourself, you go into it with what everyone else has said online about it, it just takes stuff away from it.

Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation

Thoroughly enjoyable move. It knows that you are watching it for the fun and so stays up tempo and steadily advances the plot. While the meat of it entertainment value is in its spectacles it prepares each scene logically and so avoids the mindlessness many action filled blockbusters are prone to, and even manages to be somewhat clever from time to time.

A special mention has to be given to how the scenes were shot. Certain scenes did very good jobs bring the viewer into the action so one felt like a participator instead of merely viewing from a distance. + Show Spoiler +
The bike chase was one of my favorite scenes for this reason.

Also the female protagonist was awesome: she was a warrior without acting she was out to prove something and was altogether rather rounded as an admirable character.

The movies has it share of flaws + Show Spoiler +
weird and unintuitive decision making by the characters, twists that rely on hopelessly terrible red herrings, and a villain that can feel like a malevolent accountant instead of a super spy gone rouge
but is a solid movie inside it genre.

In Bruges
is as good as people say it is. Good Colin Farrell and even better script. "(...), let's face it. And I'm not being funny. I mean no disrespect, but you're a cunt."

The Stag
is pretty hilarious as well. 4 guys take their effeminate soon-to-be-husband friend on a stag. Hilarity ensues as things start going worse and worse. Good dialogue, British (Irish) humour.

Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist (2014)
7.5/10

B movie about how Ryu and Ken grew up and trained together.
It reminded me of playing SSF2 on SNES and watching Jean-Claude van Damme movies back in the day.

In Bruges is amazing, in a similar vein in some ways, criminal, buddy comedy kind of thing, you should check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang With Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer. Val Kilmer playing a gay PI is worth it in its own right.
