Now go watch the anime: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Because watching the trailer of About Time I got the feeling that it was based on the anime.

I recently watched "All is Lost".
It starts out with a shot of a shipping container that is floating in the water, and Robert Redford reading a very depressing suicide note. The whole movie has minimal dialogue, and probably features around 2 minutes of dialogue in total, the guy is alone on a sail boat on the Indian ocean when he's awoken in the middle of the night by a breach in the side caused by said floating shipping container, and the movie details how he deals with keeping the boat afloat, with a breach in the side.
It reminded me a lot of Hemingways - "The old man and the sea", which I suppose is probably intented by the writers. The ending had me at the edge of my seat, and overall the movie was good and was well directed.

Well judging by that trailer of the anime you mention, i don't think they're the same at all

They're not similar, and the anime is based on the movie The Little Girl who Conquered time, which is based on the book.

The Intouchables
I started work with a tetraplegic man who I can smoke bud with, so this film has a special harmony for me.

I recently watched it, I really enjoyed it and it's a refreshing movie after watching lots of American movies. +1

if you are looking for a meaningful and thought-provoking discussion of love and time-travel like A Girl Who Leapt Through Time you are going to be very disappointed by About Time. think of About Time as a standard sappy, saccharine romance family drama that is attempting grab a piece of the sci-fi nerd viewership by trying to fool people into thinking it's about time-travel.

any decent fighting/martial arts in recent times?

im going to watch the new dragonball movie, and judge dredd moivie, and robocop if its out

I dont have anything against slow movies, but this was just boring beyond imagination... Watching people go up and down stairs in real time or drive in traffic for a cpl mins without a single word spoken is not exactly entertaining or thought provoking. 1/10

I just watched Nymphomaniac. I really liked Dancer in the dark as well as his last few films, but this one was a little disappointing.
There are some pretty incredible shots though, I think he could make something special if he dropped the realistic style.

300: Rise of an Empire 8/10 I would've given the original a 9/10 and this one was literally just as good. Gave me those same goosebumps and chills when they started to fight and for every epic speech given. Obligitory hot chick getting banged, slow-mo fighting, and disfigured enemies being annihilated in epic fashion.
The Spartans and Greeks in general are just so badass it's unbelievable. I'm not just talking about the movie but in real life too. Revolutionized the way people fought and strategized in battle, not even mentioning the whole democracy and inventing the western world thing they had going on. Literally every man was bred to fight and to just be a complete beast when it came to fighting. There was no equal to them. Like imagine having to fight thousands of Liam Neeson's at once, in their prime, with the best weapons and the will to fight to their last breath at every moment.

Fatal Contact I liked this one. Pretty believable action and an okay story.
Fireball Story completely sucks, but the action is fun to watch.
Rob-b-Hood Typical Jackie chan movie. Corny and fun to watch
Bodyguards and Assassins Guilty pleasure movie. The action is not believable at times, but it's still pretty good. Very slow build up; all the action is basically in the last half of the movie.
Legendary assassin The action or the story doesn't really stand out, but it's still a very entertaining watch.
Merantau Story's stupid, action is sorta unbelievable, but its an okay watch.
Shaolin I liked the story in this one, but the setting is kinda stupid. The action is pretty good.
The Warlords Not exactly a kung fu movie, but I really liked the story. The few action scenes it has are pretty damn cool. You don't even notice that it's unrealistic half the time.
Ong bak There's 3 of these movies. The 2nd and 3rd movie go together, but the first one has nothing to do with them. I personally liked the 1st one because it's more believable, but the 2nd and 3rd one has more action in general.
True Legend A meh watch. The story is almost so stupid it makes the action not worth.
The lost bladesman It's about guan yu from the 3 kingdoms period. I liked it just cause I've read a lot of stories about him when i was a kid. The action is whatevers but it does involve a lot of weapon combat which is pretty hard to come by.
If you want some more lemme kno

Not exactly about martial arts/fighting, but if you like parkour you really should watch District 13. It has some sick scenes, and David Belle is one of the characters.

God Forgives has some really decent fighting scenes.
