Also this remake has a redeeming quality about it as Spike Lee directed it, Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olson, Samuel L Jackson and Sharlto Copley are in it.

So as long as we haven't seen the original Robocop it should be a great movie? And I have seen the original Oldboy, so should I stay away from the new one?

The Last of the Mohicans (1992) might have been an unnecessary remake as well, yet it's my favourite movie. I never read the book, I've never seen The Last of the Mohicans (1920) nor The Last of the Mohicans (1936).
...? I feel great about it.

...? I feel great about it. To be frank, DDL's LotM is not a reboot in the same way that Oldboy and Robocop are.

Rust and Bone - French movie on netflix - gritty, smart, good soundtrack and a strong message
Jack Goes Boating - It was a raw and real piece of cinema that provided a much needed perspective on some simple but common ideas, including art, romance, friendship, self-improvement, and such things
The Sessions-poet with polio has decisions. I found it extremely powerful, mind wrenching and pretty
My taste is usually something with a real-life perspective.

Didnt seen the new Oldboy yet... is it a total remake of the "old" one or is it a quiet new movie with just the smiliar name? Like plot etc is also the same?

I dont get the praise for Korean murder/psycho movies. Its the same group of people who think The Matrix and Watchmen are the best movies ever. Oldboy is passable. The only one I even remotely enjoyed was Mother and even that was hard to sit through. Id rather just watch Frenzy again or Night of the Hunter. Or wait for Gone Girl / Inherent Vice.
Also, dont watch The Onion movie, I was disappointed. Just go to youtube and watch their Sex House series for something clever.

People who like Korean thrillers are the same group of people as those who like The Matrix and Watchmen...? What?

I loved both those movies and I don't like Korean movies at all.

people who don't think The Matrix was awesome are just people that were too young to watch it when it was released.

Yeah sure, the matrix's main public totally wasn't teenagers. Also korean cinema probably is one of the most americanized asiatic cinema, now wonder it sells well on the internet. Apart from that, I saw Drunken masters 2, really fun movie, excellent fighting, the humour is errrr, a bit dumb shall we say, but still a 7/10.

"good movie"
I think you mean one of the best movies ever.
haven't seen Spike Lee's version of it out of fear that it won't be anything close to the original...

I mean, sure was teenagers. back in 98. but if you were only 5 in 98 and didn't see the matrix until four or five years ago it's not going to be the same. a lot of it's intrigue was the cutting edge special effects and 'new' take on a little reality bending. neither of which are special anymore. thus my point, those who were too young to appreciate it at release won't appreciate it today.

Blackfish - I thought it was not very good for a movie that has 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is the movie about the couple of SeaWorld trainers that have died at the hands of their Orcas. I thought they spent way too much time talking about the trainers that died and not enough time talking about the treatment of the Orcas. As far as I can tell this is a job that has killed 2 people in 30 years, do we really need to hear about OSHA investigations into the workplace safety of SeaWorld employees like this is some kind of crisis?
Not to mention that most of the film is just stock footage and interviews with former trainers and friends of the trainer that died. Spoiler alert: None of the friends of the trainer that died would have ever thought that it would happen to her and she was a really good person.

I loved Blackfish. I had no idea it was some "big new thing" when I chose to watch it.
I think it was less a documentary that meant to raise scientific debate and more of a reflection on nineties/eighties zeitgeist. The "dark underside" is more so that the scientific authority was never there to begin with. The commercials said "much scietific training needed" but what we learn is that the trainers were just empathetic and sensible in the face of a senseless industry, which had rotten roots from the start.
Plus the footage was good in a gory kind of grisly disgusting kind of way? But I also felt like that helped to further the message.

Wow. 10/10. My first Abbas Kiarostami movie - looking forward to his films from the past.

Saw the movie About Time last night. I always like "time-travel" movies (if done proper). And this was no disappointment. Great humor, nice story, and nice acting. I'll probably rate this at 7/10 maybe even a 8/10 cause of Bill Nighy.
