Saw The Grand Budapest Hotel last night, while I didn't see the masterpiece some have, I think it's really quite a good piece of entertainment, quirky and/but very-well made. Good acting too.

Gave me those same goosebumps and chills when they started to fight and for every epic speech given. Obligitory hot chick getting banged, slow-mo fighting, and disfigured enemies being annihilated in epic fashion. The Spartans and Greeks in general are just so badass it's unbelievable. I'm not just talking about the movie but in real life too. Revolutionized the way people fought and strategized in battle, not even mentioning the whole democracy and inventing the western world thing they had going on. Literally every man was bred to fight and to just be a complete beast when it came to fighting. There was no equal to them. Like imagine having to fight thousands of Liam Neeson's at once, in their prime, with the best weapons and the will to fight to their last breath at every moment. Saw it last night myself. I liked it, but can't praise it as much as you do. Also, where do you get the notion they were bred to fight? Only the spartans did that, not every other greek. And i must say, i won't complain about the sex-scene, it just doesn't make sense. A little too much of a hollywood-must-have. Nice tits though.

I had pretty high expectations after hearing about it from friends and online, which sometimes tarnishes my enjoyment. Not in this case; I'm not even ashamed to say I had tears in my eyes during one scene, even when I knew exactly what was going to happen. I have to hand it to Disney--they really know how to immerse an audience. There were a few partial cringe moments, mostly during the songs, but the dialogue overall was pretty refreshing for an animated movie. I actually liked the Olaf character despite hearing mostly negative reviews about his style of comic relief. The only thing I can say I wasn't the biggest fan of was how the thawing was visualised; rather underwhelming considering all the ice fractals they had thrown around earlier in the film. Spectacular animation and charming characters in a fairly typical fairy-tale plot is pretty standard for Disney and Frozen elegantly continues that tradition.

It was fun (the banter and verbal burns are the best part) and it's cool to see Veronica again, but everything was rather heavy-handed and lacking depth. The show worked a lot better. Also very fan-servicey (which you have to sort of expect in this case), I don't think it'll do much for people who haven't watched the show first, though they should watch the show, heh.

The story was engaging. Good suspense and emotion. The pacing was great (slow, but I liked that). The acting was very good. Brad Pitt's acting may have been the weakest in the movie, but he didn't play a large role and everyone else's was very well executed. The characters were very interesting. The cinematography was what surprised me the most. The scenes were produced very well and I liked the use of long-duration camera shots. I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. Might be the best movie I've seen in a couple years.

![]() + Show Spoiler + The corpses are scary as fuck though, imo. I actually said "Oh shit" the first time you see the corpse in the closet. The second time you see the dead bodies like Noah's body was pretty creepy too. By far scarier than when Samara comes out of the TV, which was drastically underplayed imo. Edit: Also, the pacing sucked imo. The first scene was kind of scary/captivating, then it was really dull in terms of horror for the next hour and a half. The last 15-20 minutes of the movie were pretty decently scary and interesting though.
