I personally think he went a little far, though I completely understand why he did given the theme and the direction he wanted to go. It's probably the most sexually explicit non-porn film I've seen. Last film I saw was Erich von Stroheim's debut film Blind Husbands. And given the move more and more towards digital restorations of older movies, I probably witnessed one of the last 35mm screenings of it. It was a beautiful print too. The story gets a little boring/predictable especially towards the end, but Stroheim's direction (especially his beautiful mis-en-scene) and acting are so good that I could completely overlook the silly storyline. ![]() Pretty solid action movie, for the most part. It was interesting to see how it tied in with the other Bourne movies. It's been a while since I've seen those, though, so some references probably went over my head. It climaxed poorly though. The climax was a chase scene, when I would rather have it be a fight scene. The resolution actually took me by surprise, because I figured it still had more movie to cover. Which is a testament to how unfulfilling the climax was. Overall, 6/ 10 Entertaining if you're in the mood for an action movie.

Inarritu did a really nice job with Babel...he captured the isolation, chaos, violence, ugliness, craziness, control, beauty and order of Japan perfectly. Films I strongly suggest are: Love Exposure (craziness and beauty) All About Lili Chou Chou ( isolation, control, violence and beauty) Memories of Matsuko (all of the above) These films are all post 2000 if you want older (better in my opinion) Japanese film recommendations let me know...

![]() Thank you for smoking http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427944/ Satirical comedy follows the machinations of Big Tobacco's chief spokesman, Nick Naylor, who spins on behalf of cigarettes while trying to remain a role model for his twelve-year-old son. Its very funny and I can easily recommend it to people that want a laugh and a story about a dad and his moral obligations towards his son. Gave it a 7/10 ![]() Shame http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723811/ New York City, Brandon's carefully cultivated private life -- which allows him to indulge his sexual addiction -- is disrupted when his sister Sissy arrives unannounced for an indefinite stay. Kinda sad movie. Addiction is a terrible thing, and the movies does a great job of showing it. It may not be for everybody. It is a movie that has alot of dialogue and "empty scenes". Gave it 8/10 ![]() http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1325014/ The people vs George Lucas An examination of the widespread fan disenchantment with George Lucas. If anybody here, feel sad about the way george have re editied the old classic star wars movies, and how he made the new prequel movies. This documentary/interview styled movie is great therapy for you. A must see if you are a fan of the old movies, in their original, non CGI, form. Gave it 7/10 ![]() Biutiful http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1164999/ This is the story of Uxbal, a man living in this world, but able to see his death, which guides his every move. "This is a story of a man in free fall. On the road to redemption, darkness lights his way. Connected with the afterlife, Uxbal is a tragic hero and father of two who's sensing the danger of death. He struggles with a tainted reality and a fate that works against him in order to forgive, for love, and forever." A very well done movie. Very heartfell and sad movie about a dad that finds out he has cancer. Great spanish movie. Same director who made Amores Perros and Babel. Gave it 9/10
