Yeah, for a George written episode I was expecting more the moment I saw his name on screen. I'm sure tho, this last 3 episodes something serious will happen. I can already smell the war between Daenarys and the Yukais or whatever.

I love to see a nice ass every now and there, as much as any other guy, but the amount of nudity and torture-porn that's been placed into this show has really started to put of me off. My girlfriend decided to stop watching today after Theon scene.

I really don't understand why they are giving so much screen time to Theon.

Are Jaime and Brienne going to be a couple? They clearly care for each other in some way and go to great lenghts to save each other all the time. Then again, Brienne is too virtuous and honorable to get with "scum" like Jaime, and it's previously been said that Cersei is the only woman Jaime has ever had feelings for.

Personally, I'm loving it. It really shows how cruel some people is in the world George created. And Bolton's bastard acting is amazing... I mean, guy is just getting some small revenge!

see i was thinking along the lines of, would cersei fuck robert after fucking jaime? the timing of her getting pregnant without having sex with robert could rise questions with robert, however maybe robert just didnt give a damn and the story continues from that perspective. x3 times.

as for nudity and torture, they could have left that out or make it more pg13...then again that wouldnt portray the medieval era the best way they can, how dark the world of westoros is...and the point of having it on hbo would go out the window. i'm glad they're showing these stuff, it reminds the viewers this isn't for kids nor belong on cbs or nbc. i'm surprised they havnt shown any rape yet (maybe i missed it?) since they talk of it all the time.

when brann almost died, i thought like any fantasy film, he would get some magic done to him for a happy ending, i'm looking forward to what grrm will do with brann...i wouldnt mind killing him off too just to troll us lol

Well there was the whole story around Carl Drogo raping Dany and then the latter taking control.

And tbh I did want to see Sansa get successfully raped during the riot. Or Theon. The rapists should get a few jabs in before they're killed off.

As a big fan of Sansa and an even bigger opponent of rape, I am appalled......I mean, rape is clearly a part of the story, but never once have I thought "well garsh, I want more rape."

The big problem with the show is that there are just so many different characters in so many different places and they just keep adding more and more for every season.

Jon Snow is on some sort of mystical quest for something (backstabbing the wildlings?)
Brann is doing fuck knows what.
Theon has been tortured for several episodes now, we get it.
Arya (one of the top 3 characters) has been put on the sidelines in favor of some mystical bandit/cult thingy.
Robb has had some story development but he is quite the boring character. Don't feel anything for him.
Jaimie actually has a pretty interesting storyline atm, always excited when they switch to him!
All the people in da big city are playing some nice political games, focusing the show just on them would probably work though, we are just not seeing enough details.
Daenerys is exciting to watch, her development has been quite good.
The red witch is doing her (very mysterious) things.

Basically, we have nine different big places where the story is unfolding and each and every one of these places has a multitude of characters that are supposed to be fleshed out. It's just a bit too much, I find myself not caring for most of these characters since I see them interact so little.
Several of the storylines are very exciting and I would be very sad to see them cut but when we get 1-2 scenes per episode it's just too little to keep the interest going. There is a reason why most shows only have 4-5 active characters at the same time.
I don't know how to solve this though, because I assume that everyone is going to get their place somewhere down the road. Perhaps they could focus each episode more on one specific character, such that they could have a characters story arc play out over one episode?

Lord Bolton told Robb that he was sending his bastard to Winterfell and not to worry about it in S2. So it's the only logical assumption we can make right now. It makes sense too considering when Theon was set free it looked very Northern and various other arguments that could maybe be made.

@Above

Brann said in the last episode he's going North of the Wall to find the 3 eyed raven. I think his mission is kind of clear, Osha already kind of went on a huge rant about not wanting to go North again.

Okay, so some debate about storytelling going on.

What others have said about high fantasy is true.

Also, this show is only sort-of an ensemble show. It pretends pretty hard, but the first two seasons are very clear about who their protagonists are:
Season 1: The Tragedy of Eddard Stark
Season 2: The Rise and Fall of Tyrion Lannister

Part of the "the plot is not moving forward" complaint comes from the fact that by Episode 7 of the other seasons, hell, by Episode 1 of Season 1, it was clear who the season protagonist was. For this season, in the running right now:

Robb Stark: Stark Men Never Learn, part II
+Robb seems bent on self-destruction.
+He has had more major decisions than anyone but Dany
+It's obvious how his plot could wrap up in the near future (but within 3 episodes? maybe if they are very quick paced)
+He has a particularly interesting cadre of followers in his wife, Lord Bolton, Lord Frey, Lord Karstark, and his mother.
+Jaime plot incidental to his right now, and Jaime a useful dramatic foil to him.
-Kinda boring as a person
-Haven't we already seen self-destructive idealists destroying themselves from gods-sent great positions?

Dany: Abraham Lincoln, Dragon Rider
+After a lot of whinging last season, finally living up to the awesomeness suggested by the end of season 1.
+Lots of important decisions
-Peripheral in screen-time
-Plot unlikely to wrap up in any definitive way soon. Based on all build-up, she is going to have to invade Westeros at some point. That will probably be her season. If it's the last one, she might actually win.

Jon Snow: Do I Know Anything?
+Some interesting things have happened
+Easy to imagine dramatic wrap up
+/- We really have no good sense of his motives, unless they really are as simple as "double agent against Wildlings"
-Little screen time
-Even with dramatic wrap up, probably would have to be set-up for next season.

So really the problem is that most plots are moving forward very slowly, and the two that have really gone anywhere are Robb's (which feels like Ned-redux with less uncertainty) and Dany's (which isn't approaching a real conclusion).

Pfff, pffff, pffff, where is Stannis in that list? Everybody always forgets about Stannis, poor Stannis! Also, Littlefinger is setup to become more important. They don't do the he is one of the most dangerous men in Westeros thing for nothing. He has title land, all he needs now is an army, etc. I am sure he is playing the Game of Thrones. Hmmm, who else, oh yeah, the wildlings are invading, so they are also playing the Game of Thrones, they might zerg all over the north! So their king, I forgot his name is the 3rd one playing this game, yet he has not had any screen time yet, so maybe Jon Snow kills him and takes over the wildling army? Maybe Jon will be the overlord of all wildlings?

You would think Theon's role is over, but yet, here he still is, and I don't think it is the torturer that is important since it is still told from Theon's PoV. Bram especially has me confused, he is some sort of seer, and apparently a more important one than the other kid.

What I really don't get is what happened to all the wolves? I mean they have this whole thing in season 1 about these dire wolves for every child and they are important somehow. But now in season 3 the wolves don't really play any role at all.

Stannis hasn't done anything this season. He has been sequestered in his castle. He's pulled a bloody Mary and burned some heretics. He's imprisoned the Onion Knight... not even a choice to imprison someone who attacks one of your courtiers. He's important, sure. But he's not the protagonist any more than Sansa.

Littlefinger is also important, but hasn't been the focus of attention. Maybe he'll get his day in the sun. I find his scene's highly entertaining, but it might be the relief involved in dealing with a character of such moral simplicity.

Theon and Bran are irrelevant for the time being, but probably important later on.

the only reason i can see why so much screen time for theon is if he makes an epic comeback. Seeing him go to the absolute worst any human can go, tortured and humiliated with 0 hope... then to somehow escape and rise again to greatness. All this screentime would be worth it if that happened, but if theon is randomly killed off then all I can say is GRRM is a sick fuck
Question.?

This is not, in any way, a bad thing. Game of Thrones has a complex plot, that's just the way it is. Because of all the violence and nudity, it should be expected that everyone watching is an adult and will be able to keep up with all the different subplots going on at once.

I for one have always loved how spread out the story is, and it's one of the best things about the show imo. Really its defining feature. It really makes you feel that this is a story about the entire world they're in instead of just a couple of people. And when those subplots and the characters in them start intertwining... it's just magnificent.

This, honestly. I don't even know what else to add.

Who would have thought Gendry would be starting out with Arya and being taken to Harrenhall where he directly interacts with Tywin, and then gets taken and meets up with Lord Beric -- whom Ned Stark sent out to take on Gregor Clegane -- and then meets up with Melisandre who is taking him back to meet Stannis. What a fucking ride, and it's happening everywhere. It's just glorious seeing all these unique POV's interact with each other and I wouldn't have it any other way.

God I'm such a fanboy

I don't mind it all that much tbh. I mean they may be overdoing a a little bit, but honestly there probably hasn't been more than like 15 minutes total of Theon's torture subplot (really rough estimate).

Also, the subplot is interesting to me anyway. They showed us how bad of a person Theon could be, and now he's being brutally tortured and it can bring on conflicting emotions for the audience. He's almost certainly not going to just die off after all this (at least not for a really good reason), and it's also a good way to introduce this mysterious new character. By showing him torture Theon so mercilessly, anytime we see him from now on we'll know what he's done and what he's capable of.
