he is a intelligent person with an own mind, making brave decisions even against authorities, if he is rightfully convinced of something he will do it, no matter what his boss says. Thats why he became vice-president of nightwatch guys, i think. Speculations: And that dagger from the ancients he is wearing has some role, i bet. it reminded me on lord of the ring, where one little guy found a weapon in a grave, that was the only blade on the whole continent to be able to hurt the nazghul boss. I am pretty sure, that weapon has something similar to show in future, hopefully he will be the guy that saves westeros from the crazy dragon lady daenerys. Yeah, dragons are cute, as long as they are small.... But they grow. And those dragons are needed to kill off those whitewalkers guys in the north. Next step is than using the dagger to stop Daenerys from conquering whole westeross, and at the end, arya will be queen of whole westeros (thats how i would have developped the story).

Sam isn't an intellectual, hes a rehash of Sam from Lord of the Rings, a courageous sidekick who will go to any lengths to do what's right but try his best not to step on anyone's toes, to call him an intellectual is to really misrepresent his character imo. Or hes going to die a horrible death to let the viewers know that you can't be a simpleton and have too big a heart or it gets you killed. Also another character to die so GRM can remind us anyone can die. Betting it's between Tywin and Robb, this war has to come to a close sometime and I fear Tywin's much to smart to die (unless by open combat). That being said they could stretch this war on for seasons... I mean Winter has been coming for 16 FUCKING YEARS!!! (#AoA)

He can and likes to read. For Westeros standards that makes him borderline Einstein.

He was making fun of the post above. If Robb dies without getting any revenge done i will lose it. Wich at this point seems to be the direction it's going aswell.. And the reason i feel this way is because it doesn't make any sense. Maybe im speaking to soon on this but Littlefinger is supposed to marry Lisa, and then take up arms against Robb according to Tywin. Now why the fuck would Lisa ever side with the Lannisters? This same bitch lost her husband to them and was so afraid of them she locked herself in their tower with her son. But now she's going to side with her husbands killers and fight against her sisters son?! I call bollocks on that. Imagine instead that GRRM doesn't make Robbs mission impossible by taking everything he realistically should have. Make it a fair fight, by this point with the Karstarks gone, if Robb "wins" it will be very silly. The outcome of the war could have stayed the same but make the Tulleys, and house Arryn and the north fight together to make the numbers be abit more legit. That ended up in quite the rant, but at this point if Robb wins i will find it to unrealistic and when he's defeated it's been expected for to long.

You can freeze plenty of kinds of food, and so I dont consider it particularly suprising if a fairly large body of people, having advanced warning, collected and maintained enough of a high protein food to simply sustain themselves for...what? A month, two, three? We dont even know the time frame. It's quite possible that whatever explanation is given will be ridiculous, but thanks to ambiguity there is no way to dismiss it. Sam is fat amongst starving to death nights watchman. That is explicit and there is no ambiguity. And Daenerys was starving and dieing of thirst [quite a few died] before she got lucky and stumbled into a city. Plenty of people make idiotic excursions into deserts and survive. First of all, where did they get these goods, that they could have frozen? I always wonder this about the North. Secondly it was said, that the Wildling's army is bigger than any of those in the South. At that point Renly had a 100k army. Of course this was kind of an assumption, but Mance Rayder is supposed to have a pretty good idea.

I would go as far to say as Hodor is smarter than Sam in every way, so what if he can read? Hodor wouldn't run into the wilderness with some random chick to play daddy while surrounded by zombies and cutthroats. Even when Hodor speaks it sounds smarter than Sam. We don't actually know what Hodor is thinking to confirm he is an imbecile which I can't say for Sam. edit: Also pretty sure Hodor can light a fire gg

This is a funny series of articles (4 so far), about an economic look on Westeros. As far as I can tell there are no spoilers in it. You should be able to find the other ones linked under this article.
