Littlefinger and Varys are self made men, which is why they are so awesome. Nothing was given to them, they earned and built everything on their own and continue to do so... That ending with littlefinger was just brutal.. DAMN

edit: and as much as I hate seeing theon get tortured like that, he is paying for his crimes. Just bad luck for him he got stuck with a complete lunatic. Pretty sure Theon wants to just end his own life at this point.

the episode was unique in it's own right, and definitely a different pattern that some won't appreciate. it was more of the psychological fencing type in which i thoroughly enjoyed. i actually found the torture of theon far more cinematic than both little finger's. the acting was pure gold on the captor's end, so much so it's hard to believe he wasn't a deranged lunatic outside of the show. i've seen saw movies before and the psychological torment wasn't anywhere close to what was portrayed in those 5 minutes.

edit: watching clips of theon now only shows much depth the series has. it's hard for me to even recognize theon in this dignified arrogant nature from what he's gone through in recent episodes.

Never really seen Jaime as evil, his reasons for killing the king seemed legit to me and pushing Brann out the window was necessary - if he didn't his lover would have been executed and it would have caused all sorts of problems for his family. Kid shouldn't have been snooping in the first place.

Theon though? Complete turncoat because he has daddy issues, nothing more.

So im wondering, a question to all of you, who didnt know whats going to happen, when the boy torturing Theon said he was Karstark's son, did you guys figure out it's a lie (cuz they are dead), before he revealed it?

I figured he was just playing with him since sometime in Season 2 Lord Bolton tells Rob Stark that "my bastard is taking care of it." when Rob learns Winterfell was captured by Theon. Then shortly afterwards in the next episode, we know a band of Northerners surround and retake Winterfell.

Additional evidence that the torturer is the Bolton bastard that someone pointed out earlier: When Theon was surrounded in Winterfell there was a horn blower who trolled the shit out of him. Then this recent episode, we see the torturer blowing that same annoying horn to wake Theon up.

This episode was just fine, not bad or great.

Why Melisandre took Gendry?. Kinda feels like hes a backup if Stanis dies or he will be used in some form of ritual because of his blood.

I still dont understand the Theon situation. Is he really one of the Castarks sons or he lied ?

Earlier in the season, Melisandre tells Stannis that he is not the only one with "his blood in their veins." So it looks like Melisandre has some important ritual planned for poor ol' Gendry

I continue to find it extraordinarily hard to care about Jon Snow or any arc related to him. At least we've dropped the zombie thing for the time being--that's about the only thing I care about less than Snow. At least it's always balanced by the Lannisters, each of which is delicious on screen. The Tyrells are a welcome addition.

Who the hell does Theon's sister's "servant assassin" guy actually side for?
Total brain fuck when he led Theon back to the torture chamber. Anyone have any ideas whether he's a Stark or Greyjoy?

Part of me thinks that Theon's dad doesn't want Theon back and has the servant screw with him as punishment for what he did at that castle.

The other part thinks that the servant is working for the Starks to try to see if Theon truly follows the Greyjoys or not.

great episode, the littlefinger and vary's dialogue was intense and should have been the end of this episode to be honest. All that beautiful suspense killed, and instead you have the two lovebirds making out on the wall... oh well for the sake of the TV crowd I guess you have to have something that makes you feel warm inside to contrast to the Theon scenes.

//edit: almost forgot, queen of thornes and tywin lannister scene was also extremely good.

I thought it was well placed. A brief reprieve if you will, from all the cruelty and political scheming throughout this war. It also compliments Littlefinger's speech about satisfaction of the climb. It's as if that moment of passion that Jon and Ygritte share over the wilderness is their reward for busting their asses the entire episode to make the ascent. Which, I'd imagine is symbolic of the exhilaration Littlefinger feels as he rises in the world from being a mere commoner.
