LF is defined by his humble origins and by his lost love, Caitlyn, because he wasn't a member of an important house like the Starks and couldn't marry her. That's why he's so obssesed with power and since he doesn't have the brute strenght to just take it he has to slowly manipulate and play the game, he also probably feels something for Sansa as a replacement for her mother. It hardly seems like a shalow character. And about Varys, it was stablished in a scene in season 1 that he knows about Daenerys and is even ploting her return to Westeros. And in order for that to work he has to create chaos, so basically he feels justified in causing death and destruction in the present in order to secure a more stable and peaceful future. He's not an idealist, he's just (as far as we know) someone that has seen the senselessness of the infighting between all the houses and feels that the Targaryen rule, even with all it's flaws, is a better alternative.

You know the minor character we saw throughout the series who started out as a whore in Winterfell, but gradually made her ascent in the world after moving to King's Landing and working for Littlefinger. Seems she finally flew too close to the sun :/ == Anyway, this episode was just amazing. Easily the best of the season thus far, and I'd say it's probably only beaten by Blackwater for my favorite episode of the series. Just brilliant dialogue all around. Olenna and Tywin kill it again, just like they have for the past few episodes.

It seems more like Varys only want the realm to be stable because his network of spies is useless otherwise. Varys wants information (which he considers to be power), which thrives when there is less chaos (information is more reliable, stable market to sell it), and Littlefinger wants power (as in owning stuff power), which is more easily obtainable with chaos. I'd see it more as a true neutral character (Varys) vs a chaotic evil character (Littlefinger). It's not that Varys is "good", it's that he thrives when the status qua is kept.

+ Show Spoiler + Ros is revealed to be meeting regularly with Varys to report on Littlefinger. She updates a slightly incredulous Varys on Podrick's apparently prodigious sexual skills, which she has had trouble verifying as the usually descriptive prostitutes he slept with seem to have been rendered speechless. When Varys asks how Littlefinger reacted, Ros says he didn't even notice and expresses concern about his plans for Lady Sansa. She presents Varys with a shipping manifest for Littlefinger's upcoming journey to the Vale. Surprising the Spider with the revelation that she is literate, Ros points out that Littlefinger has requisitioned two feather beds for his cabin - he is planning on taking someone important with him: Sansa.[16] Ros dead Closeup S6E6Ros is butchered by Joffrey. Darklarik When Littlefinger finds out she is spying on him for Varys, he gives her to King Joffrey, who wanted to try something new and daring. Joffrey used Ros as a live target, brutally killing her by shooting her and pinning her to his bed with multiple bolts. [17]

It wasn't bad, but overall not any surprising or particularly interesting dialogues or events. Felt like a lot of filler. Makes me feel jaded or something by people being excited by this episode.

The climb was simply exhilarating, and dat littlefinger monologue with dat music and those scenes...so perfect. Varys was one of my favorite characters in season 1, but now I'm team littlefinger. Please please PLEASE don't let him die.

An incredibly fulfilling episode that was neither hot nor cold...lukewarm is the kiss of death for drama. I would almost say I could skip tonight's episode and go to next week's, there's not much that couldn't be summed up in a droning voiceover haha. That should not be possible for any GoT episode...but it's finally happened.

Depth is not Littlefinger basically admitting his only goal is to create chaos to become king or varys whose only goal is order of the realm (and why, its not even his realm). They aren't just Mr. Chaos and Mr. Order. Chaos isn't an ends for Littlefinger, it's a means to "climb the ladder". To label Littlefinger as "evil" is incredibly simplistic. He's selfish, ambitious, and pragmatic. Most (arguably all) people are selfish, and since when has being ambitious or pragmatic been a crime? I don't ever really recall him taking sadistic pleasure in torture like say Joffrey might. Littlefinger just loves playing "the game". Varys isn't Mr. Order either as he pursues his own agenda in what he believes to be best for the realm as a whole, or at the very least the idea of it. If you think that conversation they had was as simple as good vs evil/chaos vs evil, then I'm pretty sure a lot of the deeper meaning and ramifications of what these two men were arguing about just went over your head - or that you just didn't bother you reflect on it much.
