Just found this article about season 3 on the escapist. I wont paste the whole thing as theres potential spoilers in it for those of you who haven't read the books. But here's some of the interesting parts:
The trouble with writing a series where characters die constantly is that you'll need fresh faces to refill the roster. This is a problem that HBO is both ready and willing to tackle with the latest season of Game of Thrones, the popular adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire. The first two seasons left a few holes in the cast, and no fewer than 12 new characters will step in to fill their leather boots. Furthermore, Season 3's source material is so dense that it will require Season 4 to tell the second half of its tale.
12 new characters. If you had trouble keeping up with the story so far, its about to get a whole lot more complicated.
Heres a link to the whole article: Warning, possible spoiler about upcoming characters! + Show Spoiler +
edit2: Removed the list of the characters. too spoilery. You'll still find a link to it in the article above if you're interested.

I have heard that book 3 is the best, so I am excited to hear that it is getting split into 2 seasons. More GOT is never a bad thing in my book!

Do you guys remember a few episodes ago where the two nameless Lannister grunts were talking about the best fighters in the land before they were eaten by Rob's wolf after making a fart joke?
They specifically mention Jamie and the Cleganes before pointing out that Loras is better with a sword than any of them (before mocking him for being gay). As well as we're aware, he's the best contest duelists and in general one of the best if not the best swordsmen in the realm. Of people who are still assuredly alive, I'd probably rank it Barristan/Jamie (too close to call, Barristan is one of the best there ever was from all we're told, but he's old), Loras, Hound, Mountain.

Based on the tv-series we've seen Loras losing to Brienne, so I doubt he can be called the best duelist. On a side note, I wonder why the actor didn't buff up more for the role? Loras isn't supposed to be big, but he seems strangely unmuscular for such a great fighter.
In the books Loras says (Spoiler about his fighting abilities, not related to plot):
+ Show Spoiler +that he favours the lance over the sword, and that his brother Garlan is a much better fighter than him.

Really hard o comment here without spoil anything.
Greatest episode so far. But I would like to see more of the scene where "Renly's ghost" descimates Stannis army, and they shouldn't show that it was Loras till next episode imo.
Can't wait for the season finale.

It´s so silly. ever since I watched this series my behaviour has changed haha I feel more honorable and more ´don´t fuck with´ me. Also I´m really living this story. So awesome.
Anyone else have that too?

Why are people who read the books even allowed to post here? They have their own thread for GoT.
And I can't comprehend how stupid you are.

I mean, if I'm reading his post correctly, I assume it reveals a way in which the book presentation differed from the tv show. Based on how freaked out you are I get the impression that you think he just spoiled the fact that Stannis' army was defeated by some sort of magic ghost or something (which I assume is actually not a fact), but I'm pretty sure this is just a reference to the fact that Loras was wearing Renly's armor and you couldn't see his face at first which would make people think it was Renly's ghost. The armor thing has already been pointed out in this thread.

Did i say anything i shouldn't or you didn't realize that the warrior that appears when Tyrion falls with a Lannister army was using the Renly armor (green armor with a baratheon helm) and in the end when they enter the throne room loras is using the same armor. Hard to add spoil tag on your post using a phone, so i just deleted it from the quote.

I only pointed out a scene that HAPPENED in this episode that not everyone realized, said absolutely nothing from books.
I said that because I think it was an important scene and people wouldn't realize, so i think it should take a little bit more screen time.

That's exactly it and ofc it freaked me out. I was like: "did I miss something THAT HUGE? Or is he just spoilering me with so much impunity?" Of course I read about the armour thing already (but didn't notice it in the episode to be honest ) but I thought about something else because of the way it was phrased. And to be totally honest, some people just blindly spoil us sometimes so it could have been ... unfortunately.

Understandable. With some of the things I've seen in this thread it's kind of hard to give potential spoilers the benefit of the doubt.

I was about to write something similar. But i think its your choice of words that threw people off. "ghost off Renly" was never mentioned in the show after all. But you can clearly see Loras fighting in Renly's armor in the latest episode. Which, btw, is what Tur was talking about.
edit: Oh, several have already commented on it. nevermind me

Calm down there quick-draw. We can call characters anything we want. Barristan the Badass is very fitting imo. Barristan the Beaming Beacon of Badassness is better though.

The cousin paniced and said he would flee the city - but instead Tyrion asked him to become his personal spy on everything Cersei was doing. That's how he found out about the wildfire in the first place. After gaining a new spy he agreed to free Pycelle. And remember all this, but oddly not the part where pycelle was set free. It all makes sense now ^^

Yeah, I think the way they presented it makes sense, since I (like many other people probably) never even noticed it was Renly's armor, and we didn't exactly see enough of Renly in his armor to make that distinction. Can't have a cliffhanger if nobody realizes they're next to a cliff.
