Is this supposed to be a magical fantasy tale and does it get even more magicky as we go along? I thought it was doing a good job at being pretty realistic w/ a few unusual things thrown in, but which still made natural sense. Now this...what's next?? Ya, I hate the red women. Fuck magic and gods and all that. I just want to see diplomacy and swords. Magic just feels like cheating. Even the dragons kind of rub me the wrong way. When they talk about the dragons "leveling cities and armies" i can't help but feel like everything else that is happening is pointless. Congratulations on having a big army and loyal vassals, too bad these dragons will just swoop in and kill them. Having dragons swoop in and kill everything is the logical but too obvious a conclusion. Dragons will play their part but this is GRRM.

Fuck Joffrey. That is all.
The moment he appeared in Season 1, I knew he was going to be the biggest tool on the show.

Does any1 know what city "the girl at the beginning who chopped off the leg" said she was from? Valantis?

That episode was so incredibly dark. Every scene was more grim than the one before it. I loved it. They did the shadow birth quite well, considering how it could have turned out.
Edit: promo for next episode:

Bummed that we didn't get to see battle in the beginning happen. Hopefully we get to see atleast 1 big battle this season without the show just skipping to the aftermath once one side wins. Just a glimpse since fighting in the battle itself doesn't really seem to be relevant. I just really want to see Greywind tear some more throats out .Everything else in this episode definitely makes up for that though.

Volantis. It isn't part of the 7 Kingdoms of Westeros

Maybe I'm just over-analyzing the situation, but did anyone else see Renly reaching for the apple, but never taking a bite as a symbolic gesture? The apple being a common symbol representing fertility. With Renly not being able to produce an heir, or at least struggling to do so because he is a homosexual, it stuck out to me that maybe they showed a close-up of that bowl of apples and made it a point to have him take one but never actually bite it. Otherwise, they could have just as easily had him pace about, or simply eat it.
Even if that is inconsequential or even wrong, noticing the subtleties sprawled throughout the show has been almost as enjoyable as the many plotlines, excellent dialogue, and great characters portrayed by great actors.
<3 this show so much.

He and Tyrion are great :-) Love how cocky Bronn is, too. Kingsguard? Doesn't scare him.
A whole lot of WTF in that episode, though, like whatever happened at the end...
Also found it odd that Danaerys mispronounced Qarth. She said it like it would be spelled Quarth, but it's not like she looked it up on a map... Why would she mistake the Q sound? I don't know, just seemed odd. The city really did look beautiful, though, it way surpassed what I had imagined.

I love how dark they made this episode. Well done HBO.

Yeah I like how dark they made the episode but a few things were definitely WTF moments for people who hadn't read the books. My gf was a little confused at parts. I did really like how they showed the birth at the end. It sets up the next episode really well.
The scene with Joffrey makes you want to reach through the screen and smash his head against the wall.
