Easily. Just drop all the Sansa and Catelyn bullshit, keep Aria to a minimum and it should be fine. It was pure torment to read through those for me anyway, I can totally see it being skipped in the series or at least stripped to a few key points. I'd also like to see them skip Daenerys entirely, only informing about her through spy reports or something. Never liked her.
SO basically, get rid of every female in the series? Arya is one of my favorite characters. Sansa's story is enthralled in kings landing and you would have no queen or jofferey scenes. As well Catelyn's role is huge. Like uber huge..... And I just flat out disagree with you.
No Daenerys either???? Do you even like this show?

David Benioff and Dan Weiss know how the series will end. I think they are the only people, other than George, who know. So should something happen to him they could finish the series. According to George this is in case he gets hit by a bus, he's not so worried about dying before he finishes.

How do you know this?

I read somewhere -- or heard it in an interview -- that the two writers know how the show will end and they know a lot of plot points. I thought it was because, well, they're writing the show . . . I know nothing about 'in case I die' stuff. Not that it matters.

I have tried so hard till now not to read the books but I think its a good idea to read the books. Its always more fun to watch something and know stuff already, without really having it spoilt.

The show is going to be better than the books for the most part.

Don't listen to this guy.
It's now trendy to hate on GRRM because he's so popular. It's just hipster backlash, the books are awesome. If you enjoy the show I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy the books, if for no other reason than to get the more fleshed out backstory and insight for your favorite characters on the show,

This. I get people can have opinions but.. saying shit like that about the books is just wrong. The books are better than the series, and that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Can people stop discussing the books, please? Also talking about how some character is great in book x is a spoiler as we know they're alive at that point. Sure it may be nitpicking, but just cut it out and discuss it in the other thread instead.
Pretty psyched about third episode, first two were quite good.

First time checking this thread, was hoping for some fun read, last page is full of stuff I don't even understand what it is. Talking about the books, are you? there is another thread for that.
NO BOOK DISCUSSION! How can you miss that. It's even in red!

Eh, so awesome to have so many spoilers instantly.
Stop discussing the books in the topic for the TV SHOW. There is a topic about the books already, use that instead.

Yeah I'm pumped for the next episode. It will be interesting to see whether they expend more resources on large scale battles in this season.

Before I get angry PMs: I realize not every single thing you guys wrote are spoilers. Still:
STOP THE FUCKING BOOK DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD
Seriously how hard can it be to not be a jerk and ruin the experience for others? Especially when there is another thread where you can discuss everything you want.

But but..... it's so much better to show that you know something others ignore. Even better when you can tease them with it ... Sarcasm aside: thx for the clean up, now back to the show, is anyone else living with the only purpose of seeing the next GoT episode lately? It's kinda sad but since things are boring in my life lately, GoT episodes are basically what's keeping me in a good mood.

Just curious, but where can people go to talk about the books who are just trying to decide whether they should read them or not? The other thread is full of spoilers so anyone who has not already read them will be trying to avoid it like the plague.
I also cannot decide whether to read them. I love reading, but I don't want to ruin what could be a great TV series.

As you can see from the last couple of pages that quickly leads into this book is better than that, I hate / love this story line, character X is better than Y, etc etc.
No one can really answer this question for you anyway. Why not simply read book 1 and then decide for yourself?
