Why? because we need to introduce Stannis... the least interesting character by far... I mean, does anyone have any emotional attachment in him? Is anyone else just frustrated that in a world with so many fiercely manipulative/ honorable / brutal / ambitious / clever leaders someone as mediocre as him gets screen time? Sorry but season1 focused mainly on the Lannister/Stark conflict. From here on out, the scope of the plot expands drastically, as every royal house in the seven kingdoms is seeking to capitalize on the political instability caused by Ned's execution and the accusations that Joffrey is bastard born. That is why you're introduced to Stannis in ep1 and Balon in ep2, and in ep3 I suspect you will also be introduced to Renly. These are not side-plots. They are integral to the over-arching story and theme of the show/books. Then why the fuck do we get 10 mins inside the brothel ?( That was... poorly handled.

This series has too many Wincest.

It seems like it was poorly handled but character development is important. Most of season littlefinger was shows to be a good duy and a friend of the starks, yet the brother scene of this episode shows that underneath all that he is just as heartless as joffrey. He will use people any way he can to further himself.
Additionaly it reinforced the killing of the baby which ties into the whole Lannister storyline about how joffrey is out of control and turning the people against him.
It might seem like a time waste and indeed there might not be enough time in 10 episodes but its these little things that flush out the world and give it life.

Not right now necessarily, but eventually. It's that season 3 will exist (which probably was a given anyways, but now we have 100% confirmed certainty).

Well they better hurry before all the kids start going through puberty!

I have to agree with people complaining about overload of pointless sex scenes, of course Theon's one was important but mentioned earlier brothel and around 10mins spent there didn't really bring much into the storyline, sure we got to know Littlefinger a little bit more but I am sure there are other, less time consuming methods of presenting characters.
Of course I wouldn't complain about all of this if i didn't know how much stuff was happening in the books and that this season wasn't planned to only have 10 episodes.Every minute of this amazing series is precious, no need skip/shorten important events and replace them with mentioned earlier stuff.

I never pictured Sallador Saan as a black man lol
They should make a 20 episodes series so that they didnt have to rush with the storyline.
And the sex scenes are fine.

Because money grows on trees.
That and it would be insanely difficult to maintain high drama if half the episodes were spent walking around meeting largely unimportant people. Or internal monologues and everything else that takes up "book time" but doesn't translate well to "screen time".
Wouldn't mind if they extended it slightly though, but they probably couldn't maintain the quality with anymore than 12 or 13 episodes in a season.

for the 1st time in my life I feel that the sex scenes of a show is taking away from it.

Don't worry, we'll still be waiting for GRRM to finish the books by the time all the current books have been filmed and aired.

Since HBO is a subscription channel, it would be to their advantage to extend the season, since it's pretty well viewed and that would cause viewers to keep their subscriptions longer. They should be trying to balance keeping it long and keeping the audience coming back for more.
I agree that not all book content would be good show content, but I don't feel like 10 episodes does ACoK justice.

Hmm. Interesting point. The Lyseni are an odd mix. But Summer Islanders, they aren't.

He isn't really what I imagined either but I think he's done a pretty great job so far.

I do picture Sallador as a pimped out black dude that wants to pimp out hot queens who likes incest..

I am a newbie regarding GoT. I read at Wikipedia that Song of Ice and Fire as a series is made up of several books. So HBO is presenting us only the storyline from the first one? Don't wanna read wikipedia plot to not spoil myself
