HBO use to be almost impossible to pirate, they were all over planting trackers or whatever so they could have ISP's send the angry letters out. But by season 2 of GOT that shit was everywhere. I think they realize the problem, they (at this point) seem to be more content letting internet savvy international viewers watch for free, rather than cut a less than savory deal with international distributors so more people could watch. If I put my Boss hat on for a second the explanation that comes to my mind is "wait till the series is over, then relaunch it internationally, that way it looks like constant revenue, instead of a spike for GOT international. | ||

A potential legal dispute will be not with HBO, but with the local holder of GoT/HBO distribution rights, for example SKY for many European countries. To them you will be pirating their business of exclusively showing HBO content. Not saying that it's likely you will ever get caught "illegally" paying for HBO NOW. It makes sense for Martin and his publisher to keep a lot of content exclusive; omit and deviate from the books' true plot. They want the remaining books to sell as well as they can, which can't happen if people are too spoiled by the TV show. But I hope they don't cut out too much content and have alternative/additional storylines that don't detract from the show's quality. | ||

As long as the show keeps it's godlike quality I don't care whether they follow the books or not. I'll probably never touch the books and just wanna be satisfied with the show. | ||

Yesterday, they had free showing in local movie theaters. Didn't go because you had to go few hours early to get a ticket, but I think that's pretty cool. | ||
