Some thoughts:
1.)Why do the Wildlings didn't think of just climbling on the far side of the wall where no one defends ? Then they could just flank the Castle Black's top defense.
2.) How large is the force who attacked from behind the wall?
1) They are hundreds of thousands, they need a gate to march the bulk of that army through (and they are somewhat stupid)
The moment I saw Jon smile I knew one of them was going to be killed off. I hate being right sometimes. God, who knows what I'd have done to Olly later, if I was Jon D: Would probably have hit him Ygritte nooo...
I really hope they address Tyrion next episode. Hopefully it's not an hour long episode on Dany.

After saying she wouldn't take her kit off anymore, I can't see how an Episode of Daenarys only could entertain me at all (too much cost on the CGI budget for 60 mins of Dragons).
Saying that, an hour of Ser Barristan Selmy fucking people up might do the trick.

the preview is out already, it outlines the episode, we'll have scenes from everywhere, Tyrion, Danny, Wall, Bran...
The force attacking from the south was too damn large, when did they sneak 50-100 people over. When Jon climbs with Tormund u see like 10 at most and many of whom died to the Direwolves+Jon when he reveals himself. Ok, the Thenns join as well, but still that was a large force. To be fair, they say that 20 NW men guard the gate to the south, and there are at least 50 who die to the wildlings there so yeah... Just ignore the numbers when it comes to the Wall

I didn't mean all should climb. Maybe a flanking force to distract the defence. Also. for the guys saying "why they should just collapse the wall" Jon Snow already suggested it to the Lord Commander, and even asked the head of the builders. They believed it can't be breached so, Jon failed to convinced them.
Heh. I wonder if The Mountain can kill a Giant 1v1.

The Mountain would just pull guard, and triangle-armbar the giant.

1) They have an army of 100 000 but they have children, wives, they need to crush the night watch if they rly want to cross. Now sending a big part of the army to cross the wall to crush castle black (like 5000 men) would be risky because it could be seen by the night's watch, the climb would rly be long so the group rly vulnerable and pose problems for the climb in itself (they wouldn't be able to start climbing at the same time), a large group moving like that could also attract other Westeros powers.
But the main reason is imo the lack of trust, they aren't a real army and aside from his trusted lieutenants like the Thenn and Tormund I don't think Mance was ready to gamble having a large group of different tribes try to coordinate themselves without him (because they hate each other and could instead of following orders try to loot some towns or even go South).

This.!
I got really sad when Pyp & Grenn died. May their souls rest in peace!
The 1v1 between Jon and Styr was actually really well made. Excellent choreography; they looked like they actually wanted to kill each other, as opposed to teasing each other with a weapon swing here and there. It was fantastically shot; everything was clear. Many blows were very vivid and gritty (anvil, hammer), particularly when combined with the great voice acting by Yuri Kolokolnikov (the grunting, yelling). All in all it was an amazing fight scene. Yes, it was short, but as far as awesomeness density is concerned I easily rate it higher than Viper vs Mountain.
awesome episode! RIP Ygritte and brothers of the night's watch.
Since the wall is supposedly a few hundred KM long I guess you have to wonder why the Wildlings aren't smart enough to just climb it on the outer side but I guess sieging only the part where Castle Black and all of the Crow's forces are serves for a better plot!
That smug look on the boy who just shot Ygritte was hilarious.
For anyone who has played w3, the end reminds me a bit of Arthas, going to the ice lands of the Northrend to chase the scourge, and then he ends up being one of them
But what an awesome episode, the speech of the lord commandant, gave me goosebumps
