Shes a gurl, hence the opposite view on Pyp/Ygritte. :D Awesome episode. It was probably the most expensive one yet.

Even this episode they manage to kill one of my fav characters. Ygritte, im gonna miss you. That "oner" where Jon comes down the elevator and the camera sircles the courtyard and you get a shot of Thormund, Ygritte and finally Sam, thats quality! I dont really like long battles in the dark in movies, cause i think it takes away from the storytelling, but this was fine I think Jon will go to Mance and challenge him to a duel, or ask for a parlay and just kill him. Mance knows him from before and probably will talk with him. I dont think we will get to see it until next season tho. And i bet they dodge the whole Tyrions fate thing until next season also.

First they had no way to communicate. The order was to attack once the biggest fire the North has ever seen is lit. And the plan was to completely surprise the castle with the attack from the South. Only because Jon re-defected that plan failed, but at that point there was no way to communicate back with the main army.

That's right, pick the only spot within the hundreds of miles of its length that actually has defenders up there. I see how they attack here because the gate is at that place, but still.... Does not matter. As Jon said, they were only testing the wall defense. Outside the wall they showed us like at most 50 wildlings deaths. Or they were keeping the wall defenders busy so the group from the other side could bust through. Now that main wildling army is here, they can send wall climbers wherever they want once they figure out their group from the south failed. As for the episode itself, you could see they spent a lot of money on this one. It was almost movie quality ![]()

Like I know they don't have many boats, but pulling a Ghengis Khan can't be that hard. Chop a few trees. Make some rafts. ![]() It's possible to attack the wall on the sides where the scythe can't hit. Not great, but possible. I guess maybe their boats would suck, and going by boat would still lead them to death by arrows. And they have to attack the gate/tunnel. The left side might also be blocked by the wall and mountains so not enough people can climb the mountains. This is a tough situation for the wildlings. The tunnel could get blown up and they'd have no good options.

So I dunno about this episode, I know many love this stuff and HBO needs to show the big battles in all glory and I'm sure they did it justice, but I like "1 hour battle in darkness" episodes like these and blackwater probably the least of all myself.

I don't think you could burn it. @Zandar, well, it's not a battle for the sake of fighting. The plot and the future of the realm is at stake too. The same thing applied to Blackwater. Things would be VERY different if Stannis had taken the Iron Throne. I myself prefer character development over sheer action, but only when said action is pointless. Here though, the directing and the general ambiance of the episode felt great to me. I think that, even for someone who doesn't like seemingly senseless action, killing and battle, choosing to focus on the plot side of things makes it worthwile too.

All this mountain/hound/jamie/barristen talk, jon has killed like 100ppl. Killed the thenn leader 1v1. did a 1v3 before then. Dagger dude almost got him but didn't and in GOT we reward results not flashing spear spinning. We need a weekly powerranking Oberyn is still #1 - Never forget

Yes you are right of course and I tried to focus on that indeed. And I'll probably still rewatch the episode, just not as often as some others ![]()

I have to say this was by far the best TV show battle with swords I have ever seen. The way that they were switch from character to character during the fight by panning to them was amazing. I can't even imagine how hard that would be to coordinate.

Some thoughts: 1.)Why do the Wildlings didn't think of just climbling on the far side of the wall where no one defends ? Then they could just flank the Castle Black's top defense. 2.) How large is the force who attacked from behind the wall?
