I liked the episode - great visuals, much more open and lush. Last episode felt bit claustrophobic on that scale for me.
The story was put together quite well, the bathing scene felt bit too long. Everything else is by the book - good with minor substitutions.
Sam Tarly seems a good cast, too.
And, boy, it's gonna get scary...

I agree with WhiteDog.

I just finished the first book and started watching the show now. What I don't understand is why they chose to make Bran's awakening coincide with the killing of Lady. People who watch the show are probably going to think that there is some kind of symbolic meaning behind it. Maybe there is actually...I still have to read the other books...

ughhh my god this episode was soo effin good. The Wall/Jon Snow parts are by far my favorite, the actor who plays jon and the character himself are just so awesome.
Even though he didn't do it, I was so glad when Tyrion got apprehended at the end. Fuck that guy.

I think there is. I remember in the books all the wolves howled at that point didn't they? One of the things I miss the most about the series is how connected the Stark children are to their wolves. I liked this episode including them more.
Anyone else really like that final scene with Cat Tully? Really brought in how influential she and her father's name is. Loved it. Can't wait for that story line later down the way.....

great show just started watching it

Agreed...I liked Sam. Not too over the top, well the training scenes maybe, but how else do you portray his role/character? + Show Spoiler + Can't wait until they receive their duties and he becomes useful.
EDIT: added a spoiler tag for last bit

You are aware of a thing called sarcasm right? You honestly think that I believe that women shouldn't have leadership roles in society? Are you seriously that daft? And to make that post after I drop a reference to the fact I was being sarcastic?

You should really remove this or some one should. Question got answered at to what point in the books what you mentioned occurred. Anyone could get curious and ruin a lot of huge things that wont be coming for awhile. Ruin the books and future seasons. Just looking out for the more curious among us.

By the way I just used this tonight instead of some other sites that I may visit from time to time to watch episodes online....
HBO Go, http://www.hbogo.com/ .
If you have HBO on an account with your provider you can watch it anywhere with your login information through that carrier. Took me a bit to change up my parental settings as they're automatically set to TV-14. But after that I just logged in and watched the episode. All the other HBO content is on there, movies, series, documentaries. Pleased that they launched this.
EDIT: If there is a want for this info maybe add it to the OP. I'm sure people who see this thread may want to check out the series and aren't aware HBO offers it. If not ohwell.

I don't really have much to say besides the girl in the bathing scene was extraordinarily attractive.
The ending was nice, I like the way it built up.

Not going to spoil much but I like where it's definitely heading. The pace of the storyline seems to be picking up on both ends of the water.
When is winter going to start? Can't wait to actually imagine seeing what they keep talking bout.

Best Show on HBO in a long time....love GOT
|
love the tension between the starks and the other family, and the end of the episode (:
but the whole darthraki (or however its spelled) part of the show is pointless. perhaps later when there is a war or something thats hinted at, but really why should anyone care about them prancing around doing absolutely nothing besides the occasional fuck for 4+ episodes?
|
I was hoping the whole tourney would be shown this episode :|
+ Show Spoiler +KING OF FLOWERS SO HANDSOME

This plotline should pick up in next episode. And trust me, in next seasons you will think other plotlines are pointless :D

I havent read the books, and i want to ask something, however, please stay spoiler free both for the future episodes, and spoiler free book-wise.
Who's John Arryn (not sure if spelling is correct), what is his relationships to other characters.
Also concerning the 'Mad King". Is he the one that got overthrown by Robert? If so does this mean he is the father of Visaerys and Daenerys? If not elaborate please.
So far, it was an awesome show. Best in years. However, i feel the 4th episode was the weakest, at least for me, except for some ending scenes.

John Arryn was like a father/advisor to both Robert and Ned, and he was Robert's Hand of the King before he died. He also was the husband of Catelyn Stark/Tully's sister, the one who sent the letter to her saying his death was no accident.
The mad king was indeed viserys and daenery's father, and he was the one overthrown by robert
|
john arryn was the latest hand of the king, serving king robert as his right hand man ( and acted as a father figure to both him and ned stark while they were boys). in episode 1 ned gets the news that he has died and robert is coming to winterfell, and that starts everything in motion that has happened so far
you are correct about the mad king.
edit: lol too slow
good episode overall, sams character seems well played, (even if the actor isnt as fat as i imagined him to be), tyrion awesome as usual, and lots of mini scenes added in to inform the viewers about important shit. I didnt like the bathing scene though, i really dont know what purpose it served, or why it was so long lol
next episode i imagine shits going to start hitting the fan though
