Imagine if Tyrion chooses Jamie. That would put Tywin in a corner, he would have to face both his sons being killed which goes against his #1 goal, the Lannister legacy.
Would this prompt an intervention by Tywin ? or would he let his sons die in front of him ? I would guess the former given his #1 goal. In effect, both his sons would survive. Given how clever Tyrion is, I could see him doing that.

Sadly, too many have "predicted" or "speculated" that it will be Oberyn vs The Mountain. It makes too much sense not to be true. The short scene from the season trailer, the Mountain's whereabouts being mentioned in the small council meeting and the name of the episode all line up perfectly. I'm sure it's supposed to be a huge surprise, in particular a judge being appointed as a champion, which has probably never happened before, and Oberyn fighting for a Lannister. Well, the surprise is spoiled for me. I would appreciate it if those who "predicted" Oberyn vs The Mountain and Olenna and Sansa's necklace would kindly shut the fuck up.

I think it will go like this:
Cersei will nominate the Mountain, she won’t nominate Jayme for various reasons. Tyrion will nominate Oberyn. He knows that he has a grudge against the Mountain and is a fighter that can win. He won’t nominate Jayme because he is one of the few that truely knows that Jayme is not in fighting shape + having a Kings Guard fight „against“ the Queen feels wrong.
Tywin gets a win/win.
The Mountain dies? Oberyin is happy and his lust for venegance is stilled. This opens up the possibility for a new alliance. Oberyn dies? One less guy that has a grudge against the Lannisters and there won’t even be big drama because it was a fair duel

If we are talking about present times he is probably one of the "best". He is not so skillful but he is huge. All time he is nowhere close to aces like Arthur Dayne, two handed Jaime or younger Barristan Selmy IMHO He's asking for the strongest, not the best, and I think we can all agree that noone is stronger than the mountain atm ^^ Hodor! The unsullied general may rape the mountain ez. Oh wait he's from the easteros.
If we are being serious if we count beyond the north people as part of westeros i am pretty someone out from the beyond the wall can rape the mountain. I mean they have giants bigger than the mountain and strong fighters i assume that can take out giants. Since if we think about it you can't co exist with giants without fighting them at certain times.

"The Mountain and the Viper" is the name of episode 8. I'm sure that the Trial by Combat will take place in episode 7 already. What else are they gonna do for one entire episode? Then again, things do move unspeakably slowly in GoT.

Yeah I havent visited this thread since last season due to those who exhibit zero self control in posting spoilers.
Cya at the end of the season. I am again immune to their blasphemy.

Episode 7 could just be about the wall/arya/sansa instead of the trial.

There is no way that this is not continued in the next episode. At least they are going to announce the competitors for the trial. Which takes like 2 minutes.

From the trailer it is quite obvious there will be no trial by combat in next episode. (Tyrion is back in prison) They will probably name the champions. They will just re-introduce The Mountain and focus on Littlefinger and Sansa imho ...

I completely agree with this. I didn't enjoy the last episode that much simply because the biggest twist had been spoiled already. The most annoying thing is not that people guess right about feature events, but rather that they're able to predict the outcome of certain things right after the episode has been aired, putting together elements that the most won't notice till the episode that actually explains them. That's totally suspicious and I'd like to see those people waiting a bit before making their curiously detailed speculations.

Trailers are so stupid
They take away so much of the pleasure.

I have to give some people the benefit of the doubt though. I myself haven't read the books but came to same conclusions as others on previous pages just by watching the trailers and previews. I think many others are like myself and just figure out things from previous teasers. Ofc I found it very odd too that a trial by combat would be hinted the day before the episode airs. But I think book reader spoiling is not as strong as people think it is.
Or then I'm wrong and people are jerks. That's possible as well.

It's one thing to take the hints and "speculation" from book readers and agree or come to the correct conclusion, and quite another to make all the observations and conclusions on your own. I mean, yes, Mountain vs Oberyn makes complete sense now, but would you have had the idea on your own at the end of episode 2? And I'm pretty sure noone who doesn't know what they're looking for would notice Olenna briefly touching Sansa's necklace somewhere in the background AND find it suspicious AND conclude that the poison must be contained within and Olenna is the murderer.

Looked like it was in the south. How the hell do you get "Looked like it was in the south" from that? That's the most ludicrous thing ive read in a while. The sky was grey, he had his shirt off, the peasant begged, SOUTH!
