We all obviously saw it in different ways, probably based on some of our own personal experiences as well as the surroundings of the scene itself and the story between the two. You can't just attack people because they have a different opinion than you. No one here is going to out and rape someone because they saw it in a series and thought it was ok. It's all about the intention behind it, which is very hard to read by someone not in that relationship. Thus we can only go by what the creators wanted OR what we see in the next episodes. Since we already know what the creators wanted, we also know that Cersei isn't going to run around and claim Jamie raped her anytime soon. And ffs, learn to discuss. I'm sick and tired of people using personal attacks as some kind of arguing technique. It just proves you don't know any other way to convince people. | ||

If the producers said it's not meant to be rape, it's clear evidence that they tried to put elements of consent through, but they didn't shine through brightly enough. 1:11-1:16 in the video. Removes any thoughts of potential rape in that video. There is no woman in a relationship that would feel like she is being raped by her lover is she kisses him back like that. End of argument. It's evident she wants it, she is just uncomfortable with the time and location, and maybe saddened by the degradation of her relationship with Jaime. | ||

There was no other way to see it, it was rape and that's the end of it. His reasoning was 100% flawed and he tried to make it seem like Cersei wanted it to happen when she clearly didn't. Same thing happened in the thread we had about "rape culture" or w/e. Acting like the victim wanted it or enjoyed it cannot be tolerated I'm sorry. I'm fine that it happened. I'm just not fine with people thinking it didn't happen. Regardless of what the director wanted to show or not. | ||

I think that voice seems out of place in some circumstances but in others it just feels perfect. His interaction with Varys up to and including the Climb monologue was pretty epic. I think the actor is pretty good but I get you on the idea of his pronunciation a little bit. I still think he is doing a good job. Top tier of acting in the show is probably Charles Dance, Peter Dinklage, and Conleth Hill. I dunno there are tons of great actors in the show but I feel Tyrion, Tywin, and Varys are just played brilliantly. EDIT: Seriously guys cut it out with the rape talk. The scene was on a borderline. Some people think it was, some don't. I'm not gonna bother saying how I feel about it because the last people who have have had their opinions bashed by other people in this thread. I just wish the thread didn't have to be completely absorbed by that one scene. | ||

It was very obviously meant to be shocking and outrageous. They both haven't had any together in a long time, and this scene shows the sexually human aspect of their characters and their lust for one another. Cercei says "Jaime not here, please" because they have obvious risk of getting caught and could potentially unravel the legitimacy of their entire family's reign, not because she doesn't want to have sex like they have been doing for decades. They love each other, have children together, and want each other. Cercei was simply still mourning for Joffrey and thinking about Tyrion's supposed murder when Jaime got horny and went to seduce her in a very risky place, that's all. Ultimately though, this discussion isn't going to be settled since it is subjectively interpreted. Just take it easy and enjoy the fucking show. | ||

What bothers me is people seeing that scene and saying "Eh, she didn't struggle enough, so she likes it! That's how it works, right?" If the world turned to Westeros, and we were in the same part of the plot as the show is in now, and you had to be one of the characters (gender doesn't matter), who would you be? (You have the same body as the character, but you take over their brain) You are not allowed to pick a character that has already been picked by a another poster! | ||
