Both the director and the book author have announced by now that it wasn't meant to be rape. I call foul here - the person saying that clearly has read the books, even multiples times ! Thus his opinion should be disregarded and if he'd ever post here, he'd be banned from this thread ! :o) | ||

However, since most people construe it as rape, this can have negative consequences on the character development of Jaime. So yes, in a way the director didn't manage to express what he intended to. Also, most viewers seem to base their moral system on today's standards when watching a medieval setting. That said, even today there is a lot of ambiguity as to what is rape and what not. Just take a look into the courts. And to the one claiming I've read the books, he's right, I've just started with the first book of the series. The interviews with director and book author can be found all over the place in the news. | ||
