Well the ice truck killer was Dexters long lost brother who was kept secret until faking his way out of a psych hospital, stealing the identity and know how of a prosthetic surgeon and manages to get Dexters sister to fall in love with him.
All this hate band-wagoning is getting on my nerves now. Yes the seasons isn't as good as the others, but its been 8 seasons. What do you all expect? Just accept that its gone down hill and be glad this is the final season without purposely looking for things to complain about.

The last episode was the worst writing of the series.
I'm not one to bitch about the writing of the show since it has been off since after season 2, because I still watched for entertainment. But now the writing in season 8 is so bad its almost unwatchable and is only being watched cause people wanna know whatever shitty ending they decide to put.
The writers shoulda planned this season to end the series, not follow the same formula of introducing new pointless characters to kill them off, and side plots that don't develop the story or the characters.
Edit* Someone with writing talent should rewrite season 3 and add 5 more episodes to season 4 and make that the unofficial series ending, where the show coulda died with dignity and being considered a legit series.

i havent seen the more recent seasons since they havent been broadcast in germany, but this all sounds really horrible. like... dbz buu saga level of cringeworthiness...
actually, here in germany, they just aired the last 4 episodes of season 4 last saturday and i thought they were great and was full of anticipation for the next seasons.. guess i was wrong.
btw that episode in which trinity tracks down dexters identity and they have this super-intensive stareoff at the police station - wow, just wow. best moment of the series.
btw what is this weird "mecha doakes" meme you are constantly talking about?

Like Debra drives dexter into the river, then changes her mind and saves him? LOL ok.. or Hanna poisons dexter and debra, then.. nothing happens. I think they just did that so they could have a cliff hanger that episode.

If you don't like it, then just don't watch it?
So many pety criticism here.

I agree, it's not 10/10 ultra high quality written by literature geniuses, but it still feels much like the past seasons and is as enjoyable to watch as ever.
There's always been stupid stuff (the whole dark passenger - "anyone who encounters bad shit in their childhood is fucked up for life" type garbage from earlier seasons, and that he hasn't been caught by the most cursory check of his database record accesses) but by and large I wouldn't say it's "gone downhill" or that this season is notably worse than previous ones.
Edit: Hahaha wow I just read the comments so I don't think my opinion will be remotely popular, people demanding complete and utter plot flawlessness about a show such as dexter are just after something to complain about.

I hate comments like this.
Some (most) of us have followed Dexter since season 1 and have loved most of the series thus far. We obviously want to see how it ends, and are not going to "stop watching" with 3 episodes remaining. It's totally reasonable to express disappointment in something that has declined so far from what we've expected.

Started rewatching season 2 and wow.. feels like a completely different series. So sad.

Wow, fuck... I just downloaded the latest episode to watch from Pirate Bay and realized... It was last week's episode. I probably just pissed a bunch of you off as well who clicked on this thread thinking there'd be discussion about a new episode.

I've been watching since S1 and yeah, it hurts reading this thread. : (
So I was going to watch the whole thing when it ends so I can binge on it. But it sounds like it isnt a very good season and that I could be just as well off watching the finale since the rest of the episodes probably wont have much of an impact on it.

Yeah apparently they delayed it a week. Kind of annoying but w/e.

Its not as good as season 1,2,3 but it isn't bad imo Still an interesting exploration of the character even if it kinda feels like they are trying to explore too much too quickly leading to complete dispelling of what could have been a very interesting hanah v debra conflict. Then again if they stretched it out to 15 seasons then people would complain as well Anyway I think it still has entertainment value and certainly hasn't dropped as low as homeland did (and in just the second season too)

I think that the main difference is that the first season was kind of goofy, the show didn't take itself too seriously except for when it needed to. You can even see the difference in shooting, it has become much more bland and just the same shots being used over and over again. And ofcourse the dialogue has gone completely off the rails when it comes to quality.
But yes, I agree, the hate for the later seasons by people who don't really understand what they hate about it is getting kind of annoying.

I made myself some coffee and a nice lunch, ready to watch Dexter.. now my day is ruined t_t

Neh. I agree, people here seem so pessimistic. I suppose I read books for high quality stuff and watch tv for cheap entertainment? I don't know, but I still look forward to BOTH breaking bad and dexter after monday's looong lectures
