Same.
That scene with him and Dexter in the bar was incredible.

i feel that it's just too much how many improbable traits characters suddenly have this season. Debra's incestuous, Russian mobster is gay, Dexter's girlfriend is a serial killer and Dexter finally has feelings! It's just too much too quickly.

Oh god, suddenly I don't want Isaac to die.
What a great scene, what a great actor.

Holy shit that bar scene was soo fucking good.

I can't believe they brought back the Deb/Dexter romance shit. Honestly don't like the idea at all...the rest of the episode was so good too. Man I feel like there's no going back now. I guess I'll just have to hope the writers change my mind about it.

It's not just that, believe me.
Man this is definitely by far the best season since S4, I love how much time they took for the bar scene and stepping up the villain's bad-assery even more!

The best episode of Dexter I've seen in...almost 3 seasons really. There's a real sense of that calm before the storm feel, with little character developments all around before the shit really hits the fan. The scene with Isaac in the bar was among the best in the series. Everything was good, except for that awful storyline with Deb's love interest in Dexter that finally reared its ugly head again.
The season overall still feels like it's lacking compared to the first 4 but it's already way better than the previous two imo.

Wow, really good scene. Boardwalk empire-ishly awesome.

Why do people dislike that so much?
I usually don't care about the romance-parts in drama or TV shows, but I'd love for this to develop much, much further.

I found the established relationship between the two for the first 5 seasons quite endearing. Dexter is adopted and has his share of enigmatic qualities, but Deb still consistently made an effort to get closer to understanding him and generally they had their ups and downs just like your standard siblings. Basically, it was heartwarming to see in an otherwise mostly dark show.
Then season 6 rolls around (imo the lowest point yet in the show) and completely out of left field....Deb thinks she may have actual feelings for Dexter. Not only did it feel like something desperate to add in, it totally smashed my perception of their development up until that point. It just feels odd to me and not really needed is all.

Such a great episode, can't wait for next week!
+ Show Spoiler +I loved that chat between Dexter and Isaac at the bar. That was so civilized despite them wanting to kill each other. Also, Debra finally came through and told Dexter about her feelings. Must have been really hard for her. Happy to see Dexter finally...happy though, he's found peace with Hannah, and also love. I think the show is more about a kid who's conditioned to be a serial killer by his step-dad to gradually discover that he's actually not a lost cause, and he is capable of actually being human. In every season Dexter learnt something about life, his brother, relationships with the opposite sex, having a friend, having a family and being a father etc. And this season is about love, I read the book "The Psychology of Dexter" and the writers in there agree that Dexter isn't really a typical serial killer and he can actually be redeemed. I think the same and I think eventually Dexter will quit killing.
Also, I love the way Michael C. Hall plays Dexter....He looks so baffled and confused all the time, he really makes it convincing to demonstrate that socially Dexter is having problems.

I didn't get the feeling that Dexter has the ability to "love" from that episode. He went back to Hannah because she was his "clean slate" - somebody who he could be himself with. He can't "love" her or Deb.
+ Show Spoiler +We see this yet again in the next episode preview - where he is talking with Harry and tries to describe his feelings for Hannah. It sounds like he's describing "feeling comfortable", not love.

Agreed completely. Michael C. Hall makes the show work. His "exasperated face" is pretty great.

Really loved the episode but I don't want Hannah to die...sadly, most likely she will.

Hannah is what Lumen should have been in S5. I didn't like how they just shuffled her off the show in the finale.

Did I miss something? How did Deb know those keys Dexter dropped on the table were Hannah's?

Holy fuck this episode. When Deb admitted her feelings I was in total disbelief, didn't see that coming. And that bar scene. Just wow. So fucking good. Really enjoying this season, got just enough twists and turns to keep me guessing. Didn't anticipate Isaac being gay haha.

The photo scene was a dead giveaway IMO.
Good episode though, Isaac really good character and superb actor.
Watching Dexter react to Deb going all emo was hilarious.

And I know people will say her acting was over the top again, but I actually liked it.

It definitely is in retrospect. Now that I know I can look back on all these little hints that I feel like I should've picked up on. Everything I'd taken as a father's love for his son has completely different meaning to it, even though there were definitely things that should've given it away. Like how George didn't hesitate to shit-talk Viktor in front of Isaac. If that had been his son, not his secret lover, he would've been a bit more tactful.
