I can understand how the VIP angle was added to give more depth in the anti-capitalism theme. But it was laughably unrealistic, that the message gets diluted.

Anyway, on the positive side, I would recommend Kingdom on Netflix. The zombie apocalypse has been done to death, but the story set in medieval times gives an exotic spin.

For me it was pretty obvious that they saw everything? Not just the games

Yes, cameras were trained on the contestants almost 24/7 on site. Maybe the audio picked up all their conversation. But it's rather unlikely that the VIPs had time to watch every single reel (or even understand Korean). Maybe there's an edited highlight reel with subtitles (like a reality show). But even if so, it's clear that the VIPs are machismos who enjoy watching real action than some psychological soap opera (like Survivor or Apprentice).

And like I said, there are better (and safer) ways to invest in a gore fest than Squid Game. Rich people indulging and gambling in death matches is a common troupe in B-Grade movies (The Tournament, Escape Room, etc). Or directly partaking in actual torture (Hostel). Squid Game is just too elaborate with minimal entertainment returns for the risk of exposure and being caught.

Anyway, to each their own of how much they wish to suspend belief. I've seen enough of similar death match movies/series (which isn't even my favourite genre) to find that things just don't add up in Squid Game in terms of realism.

Yeah the game was far too costly and elaborate for the amount of "entertainment" the VIPs could extract. What they could easily do instead is:
1. Go to some third world country.
2. Find some poor and desperate people
3. Convince/kidnap these people and give them weapons
4. Force them to fight in a remote location somewhere
5. Sell tickets
6. Profit ???

This would be far cheaper to do and you still get the exact same entertainment (people playing a death game) and you could sell tickets for a high price.

The only issue would be keeping a tight lid on these games, since the more people are involved the greater chance of something leaking to the public. This is why you gotta stick to third world countries like Mexico in which corruption is the rule, not the exception.

Did people even watch the last episode, when they come with statements like these? Money is the exact opposite of what these people care about. This is very clearly, word for word, stated in the series.

Heck, the way you talked about the old man earlier "making no sense being in the games" makes me wonder if you watched the series without subtitles or something. You keep bringing things up that are explained in the show, complaining about how it doesn't make sense, despite the fact that the answer is spoonfed to you

I think people are reading way too hard into rich people trying to extract dollar for dollar entertainment value from something like this. Part of these sorts of gross contests is as a display of power and wealth. The entertainment is only part of the equation for rich people in these sorts of shows.
