Although I also feel his acting is really weak. Same with Bobby and Avasarala. Naomi I like better now, but shes not great either. Amos was perfect casting though, and Gorman has been great obviously. What's your gripe with avasarala? if you can be fucked being more specific than weak acting that is

Well I realize these things are always a matter of opinion and also hard to put into words. With Avasarala among other things I cant take her rants seriously. There is no conviction behind it, sometimes it seems like she barely gets the words out. Its a good character and she looks the part, should be an easy win.

Steven Strait as holden was hands down the worst acting-wise for the first 2 seasons. I think he turned a corner in season 3 (second half) though, and he is solid now.
Avasarala -- she overacts and plays a larger-than-life attitude, so her scenes kind of depend on the other actors being able to make it work. It didn't work this season.
naomi gets a lot of flack, too. I'm indifferent -- she'll have some good material to work with next season so, we'll see.
everyone else is awesome, i think. no complains from me.

Has anyone seen His Dark Materials?
Just watched the first episode and it's pretty much Golden Compass the TV show. Having seen the movie before will probably make the experience of watching it much more dull as I know who the bad guys are and what some of the big plot reveals might be.
If anyone has watched both, can you tell me if by continuing I'm headed for a disappointment or not?

Also, started Witcher. First episode is very strong, although might be a tad confusing but that's to be expected considering the source material. It's like GoT on steroids with all the moral ambiguity and dark, realistic feel to it.

Holy cow! First The Boys and now this?! Bright done right. Pretty much everything about this show is amazing. The sets, actors, atmosphere, plot, characters... Writing is top notch, dialogue is amazing and it all works so well together. This show is nothing short of stellar. 10/10 It looks like Amazon is really stepping up its game and is now producing shows to rival HBO. thanks for posting the suggestion. I enjoyed the first episode.
Too much sex and naked breasts for my taste but apart from that thoroughly enjoyable.
Which to be honest feels like a weird thing to say after watching a depiction of s through and through racist society

Binge watched Watchmen on HBO. It felt very solid, a 9/10 overall with some episodes being 10/10.
I don't completely agree with their depictions of some characters from the original graphic novel, specifically Ozymandius and Dr. Manhattan. The show versions felt kinda off compared to their graphic novel personalities and arcs.
Otherwise, the rest of the show was fantastic, and sometimes very weird. I thought it could get very thought-provoking with its interpretation of racial tensions in America or the psyche of masked vigilantes.

Finally finished The Sopranos. Boy it gets emotionally taxing at the end. Dark and tragic but still compelling to watch. Started Downton Abbey and The Witcher. Liking the former a lot better so far.

Watched Miss mavel on amazon prime today with my moms and my sister. Its a really good show and season 3 might have been the strongest but they're all well made and have good stories. They're also something you can watch with your family as an adult.

Are you from the future or am I missing something?
Edit: I guess I was missing reading attention.

Ah, my mistake, I misread that as Ms Marvel (which has, in fact, already been announced as a disney series)

Wait. By Ms Marvel do you mean the original Carol Danvers character (currently Captain Marvel) or this new weird stretchy girl who puts her friends in wheelchairs and supports fascist regimes? I'm confused...

Although I'm sure discussing why you think this is would be very riveting, this is probably not the thread for it. Yes, the latter.

Season 3 of Babylon Berlin will be out late January! The first two seasons, which were actually just one long season, were really good, much recommended for those who haven't seen it.

The Deuce
By the gods! What an amazing journey this was. During the last 5 minutes of the last episode I was crying like a baby and when my wife asked me why I got so agitated and I started telling her my voice actually faltered and I started crying again. I really don't remember when was the last time any movie or TV show has elicited so much emotion out of me. It was the perfect ending. And I have to give mad props to Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco for creating such a brave show (especially Maggie, whose role was also pretty brave).
10/10

I agree, The Deuce is a top quality show and has so many intelligent things to say about class, work, gender, and the city. David Simon remains the greatest show writer out there.

First episode of Star Trek: Picard was very promising. It seems to have a greater respect for the franchise compared to Discovery. Patrick Stewart still commands a sense of gravitas to his performance.
