And now, the author is downplaying him so much... with the failed attempts, overall the greatest tragic hero in the story, just to really prepare for an obvious conclusion

He learned it from Jiraiya, the same as Naruto did. He also used the summoning jutsu on Gamabunta when nine-tails attacked the leaf. Nothing exceptional there.
But... this is starting to feel cop-out-ish. First the second flashes behind him and appears to finally land a blow, then without seeing what happens we find out he just got owned anyway. Then we see the 4th do the same, also getting owned. Then suddenly he starts going on this spiel to Obito, and lets his guard down for that? Obito was his tool, he didn't have feelings for him of any sort that would explain that, especially given his ability to insta-pwn people. However it's slightly interesting what Obito did, absorbing Madara's chakra using his Rinnegan and forming that staff. Probably the only hope these guys have got right now.

Minato's name is actually on the scroll that the contract is made in. So sage mode shouldn't be an issue.

Rasengan doesn scale late game like chidori. Need to rework for balance reasons.

Madara explaining what the sage thought but happened from his perspective was also interesting. ya, we got a bit too much flashbacks but meh, I can wait for next week as long as we don't get a ton of flashbacks in every chapter after this.

this. Madara thought he had Obito brainwashed so he let his guard down. Even Madara wouldn't be able to stop that considering how close the hand was. I mean cmon, it's like, he's going to shake my hand then *bam*he stabbed him. Does seem a bit odd when you consider the 2nd and 4th but unlike in Obito's case, Madara knew that those two are hostiles. Obito seemed like he was still under Madara's control which is why Madara just let his guard down. I dunno, I like this change. I've been wanting to see what happens to Obito for a while and feel that this is the best thing they have atm.
