Compared to the Goku+Hit episode, this was like a completely different show. It's as if they let the manga writers do a couple episodes and then we went back to sailor moon transformations.
The scene with throwing rocks is just...unforgivable.

I'm sure it's different teams working on the episodes. Odd part is that they must've discussed the pacing and progression prior to doing these episodes so I have a hard time thinking that one writer went one route and another writer, another. After all, you need to nail down the story before you get started.

I think I saw somewhere that the official ranking of Universe 7's team by power goes Goku = Freeza (probably before Goku's next power-up) > Vegeta > Gohan >= 17 > Piccolo > 18 > Krillin > Tien > Roshi

There was an official ranking at some point (Rival Danger Scale or something like that) and Golden Freeza was ranked above Hit. In the manga he is also clearly stronger than Hit and during Resurrection F he is canonically stronger than Goku when both are at peak power. But ofc the anime shows Goku going Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Kaioken x10 to keep up with Hit while he fights Golden Freeza to a draw just with Blue in the filler before the tournament. So really what I'm saying is, if Goku = Freeza is what the directors of Super are going for, they weren't doing a great job.

1. Goku's used a whole new transform to go from #2 in the multiverse to #1 or #1 tied. Diminishing returns if you ask me. 2. The new transform shouldn't be all that much more powerful than Kaioken Blue, in fact it could be intermediate power between Blue and Kaioken Blue but with sustainable energy usage = much more stamina. ('much better ki control' is how it could be justified). At that next level, Goku would berserk Zamasu, probably Sidra as well given Freeza's control of his energy of destruction, and give serious Beerus a run for his money (cf. Beerus' 'he was planning to use that against me ?). So then, a mortal is at average God of Destruction level, or above. 3. In fact, once Vegeta inevitably catches up, next-level Vegito should logically beat Beerus, at least by anime standards. As such I simply wonder where they go next, because once you hit GoD or post-GoD level, things should get quite weird/boring - it just seems unnatural that mortals could compete with angels like Whis or real deities that created whole universes. This, by the way, is all before Goku's had his 'potential unlocked' by the Kais. I, for one, look to Gohan for some interesting and different character development going forward. Welcome to the end of the power creep.
