The stylistic differences between the movies are quite apparent. But I don't think that's a bad thing. Take a counterexample: Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Star Wars OT doesn't feel this way, and I think the stylistic differences make each movie stand out in some unique way.

Or take the PT. The first is an action movie on top of a political thriller where you as the audience know 70% of what's going on, and maybe 10-20% is revealed over the course of the movie. But I agree with you 100% that it does make the OT movies more distinct from each other and that's a very good thing. I guess what I'm really worried about is, how much is going on between Abrams/Kasdan and Johnson? Like Lucas is the ultimate creative director in the end, but the big things storywise, at least the way they look now, are going to be handled by two separate groups of people.

Ideally, Disney will have someone who is coordinating between all the directors to make sure that their ideas flow together well. I think they do because it would be a fool's errand to repeat the mistakes of the PT.

So apparently it is called the Starkiller base, and is "An ice planet converted into a stronghold of the First Order and armed with a fiercely destructive new weapon capable of destroying entire star systems."

Also certainly the same ice world we see all the First Order army shots.

You have to take the Deathstar to its logical conclusion. So eventually it'll just be a galaxy sized Voltorb and just self destruct ending all life as we know it.

With that smiley face are you implying that Luke is in fact the sith in the picture? He has a black robe top similar to the one we see Luke wearing in the first trailer, and his black glove could be covering his prosthetic hand.

The fact that Luke is missing could be that he just doesn't have a big part in this movie. Maybe a scene or two, and his real role doesn't come up until ep 8.

It's also possible that the opposite is the case and that showing Luke on the poster right now, in whatever state he is in, would be too much of a spoiler.

I also find it interesting that all of our legacy characters are small, in the middle, while our new unknown characters are large, along the top. This suggests to me that Luke is not in fact Kylo Ren.
