still too much drama but i like the way the characters are developing and alex's plot is finally starting to get interesting. also i like that they use the f word now; adds some realism to the show i guess. what changed that allowed for the show to use 'fuck' now? | ||

This past episode was the first time in a while where we got to see the old, emotional, caring Donna which was great, and I immediately felt sorry for her during/ after the Harvey talk. It was really cute. I'm looking forward to learning about the fallout with Alex. I'm not looking forward to learning about the fallout with Frank Gallo. Also, fuck Mike. Seriously. What a pain in the ass. He's screwing over his relationship with the two most important people in his life- Rachel and Harvey- because he can't get his shit together despite everyone moving heaven and earth for him over and over again. As coverpunch said: You know you've messed up when Rachel is the voice of reason. Also also: Well done by Louis, managing to salvage a situation where he needed to actually be empathetic, and YOU JUST GOT SPITT UP is frickin' adorable. | ||

As I think about criminal justice in New York over the last 20 years and reflect on Harvey's incredible record at the DA's office, it's plausible to say Harvey Specter is a big part of the surge in imprisoning young black men. Hell, it wouldn't be unfair to say he WAS the surge, having put away some 18000+ people away. Without any losses on his record, it also means he cherry-picked cases so he probably didn't put away any white collar criminals (although most crimes on Wall Street would have gone to the US Attorney's office, not the DA). | ||

also i didnt know aaron korsh used to be an investment banker. it would explain how suits' script utilises so much corporate and legal lingo as well as the actual demonstration of business strategies, ideas etc. their goddamn producer comes from that world | ||

When Harvey is on the stand and Alexandra Leeds is questioning him informally on the stand to try and flip him on Cameron Dennis for suppressing evidence, she references that he worked 2 years at the DA's office and put away 18,362 cases. It is cited that he took 147 to trial and won all of them. In searches for reference, it is noted that other criminal attorneys take something like 1500-2000 cases per year and everyone is complaining about overload, which makes Harvey a legal machine because he's doing 5x the load. I was looking up real life statistics and ironically the prison population in New York fell over this time period. The prison population in 1999 was 33,411 people, while in 2006 it fell to 32,324 people. In both times, about half of prisoners were black. So maybe Harvey was just looking at cases and dropping bad ones very quickly, like almost instantly. | ||

Ironically, you're way off base with all of your assumptions: 1. Alex is a cool guy, a buddy of Harvey's, and played by the awesome actor Dule Hill (Psych, The West Wing). 2. Not only has Rachel been drama-free for the season so far, but she's actually been the voice of reason in many recent episodes. 3. Louis has steadily been getting better, if by "being a faggot" you mean "irrationally flipping out and not dealing with issues correctly". I'm not sure how you think a television drama would survive without any drama, although historically there has certainly been plenty of repetition and annoyances, and currently Mike is a complete moron. | ||

I also like that Alex is a sincerely good guy. The writing is basically on the wall for Mike's decision to be: Mike + Harvey + Alex working together to find a loophole and crush those blackmailing, colluding companies as a big team. | ||
