The show seems to have heard all the crying from the fans and backpedaled to a certain extent. Good.
To me, it looks like the show is groping around to find what made it popular in the first place. I'm not sure if they're doing this as fan service to riff on all the old beats or if it's more of a shotgun approach to try to find do a little bit of everything so that something sticks. The only thing missing on my bingo card is a demonstration of super memory from Mike.
I like Mike's pro bono case and I like that the other side starts out kicking Mike in the dick. I'm hoping for a little more corporate drama, especially since we have plenty of big issues like bad governance in the news these days - off the top of my head, we have Deutschebank, Uber, Snap, Alphabet/Google, GoPro, Tesla, etc.

well i guess the discussion about whether any other employees are left in the firm got sorted. partners meeting of 3 people lel.
the episode was reminiscent of season 1 but was kinda boring somehow. hopefully the season focuses on bring the firm back up to size with the main characters kicking ass like the olden days. could use less drama for sure

Well this episode was better than the last one for sure, but still sometimes I ask myself, how can people give so good advises to other people and yet be so bad at self-perception. Every god damn time Harvey, Rachel or Mike talked to one of the other characters I could agree with what they were saying, but every time they did something I was like "no f**k no, what the heck are you doing?", especially after Louis AGAIN went behind Harvey's back and tried to poach the client. Like wtf Louis from all the characters should have learned it the hard way that you do not go behind Harvey's back even if you think you are doing the right thing....
At least Donna isn't senior partner anymore, thanks to Katrina. I feel like she could become my new favorite character on the show, even though it seems that she will not get much screentime this season 
Still the move from secretery to COO is also stupid, but at least she doesn't need to have a law degree for that so it is less stupid. And I still see problems coming up with her on this position. Like when they finally try to acquire proper senior partners (or promote Katrina hopefully soon) and their oppinion on her vote in a partner meeting. Yes Donna deserves it and as a COO, we know what her tasks are (altough I would have thought that a Managing Partner is kind of a combination of CEO and COO in a law firm, but whatever).
And 50 Million Dollar is quite a bit in my oppinion, seemed rather easy to have this corporate shark lawyer give up so easily, especially when the woman Mike met before claimed that "no one wipes the floor with Mr. Ackerman" . Class action law suit is a lot of work and would need probably the full power of the associates from PSL. Don't think Harvey would be okay with that for a pro bono case, unless the pro bono case is dependent on a share of the amount in litigation (I saw that this can be done at another law series "Good Wife" and to me that seems fair that the lawyers get a share when you win the pro bono case), but since I haven't heard that this is actually the case, one would need to assume that this is a complete pro bono case.
Is Rachel a lawyer now btw? I totally forgot that she was supposed to pass the Bar, but since this story revolved around Mike passing the Bar, I did not think about it. Anyone remembers whether this was cleared last season? I mean it was part of the deal that she wouldn't be bothered and would pass the bar without a problem, but I cannot seem to remember her now being a real lawyer. Please enlighten me someone :D

I enjoyed the episode but I can't help but feel that the Times article is going to backfire. Maybe the show has made me cynical but this apparent attempt to immediately put Mike's history to bed seems too good to be true.

tbh the show has dragged the mike is a fraud plotline forever and its time they dumped it. this seems a good way to finally put it to bed and get the show back to its roots which is harvey and mike stomping noobs, only now mike is legit

I liked pretty much everything about this episode:
-Mike listened to Harvey and dealt with the fraud issue head-on
-Harvey rescinded the senior partner offer and instead gave Donna a smart, sensible, non-lawyer position worthy of her
-Donna already knew this was going to happen because she's Donna, yet was still super grateful
-Katrina had the balls to say what she felt was right regarding the prestige of a senior partnership
-Rachel didn't fuck anything up
-Jessica is still around when needed
-Mike actually did a pro bono case and "helped the little guy"
-Harvey eventually learned from the mini-arguments with Donna, Louis, and Jessica, and made the right call
-Louis made an attempt at curbing his behavior and being straight with Harvey (also the superbowls LOL)
-We got to meet Dr. Lipschitz! Poor Dr. Lipschitz, having Louis as a client lol
-Dule Hill should be a recurring actor now (although, admittedly, it's a step down from being the president's personal aide heh)
The only thing I worry about is that Mike still gets too big for his britches when speaking to his opposition. I feel that Mike adds insult to injury when it's not needed, which has backfired in the past when he calls other lawyers "pieces of shit".

yeah it irks me a bit when harvey and mike start throwing personal insults at the opposing lawyers for doing their job lol

I think you're not wrong. Almost definitely the "redemption of a fraud" angle will come back to haunt PSL and Harvey especially. It puts Mike in a good light but as usual, he hasn't foreseen that his selfishness will hurt the entire firm when opposing counsel makes them look like frauds or idiots.

Yeah I agree with you guys on that one... The ending of the episode seemed to be a little too perfect, with closure and everything being wrapped up with a neat little bow on top. Some shit will go down, surely.

I spent this entire episode thinking "Why did everyone suddenly become an idiot?" At least by the end MOST of them realized it with the exception of Harvey.
The two things that are most likely going to come back in future episodes are the fact that Harvey has a hard time standing up to his friend and that "Chinese wall" is at some point going to be broken down by the clinic screwing it up and trying to come to Mike to have him help it which he will try to subtly pass off to Rachel or something.

Yeah Harvey was the biggest jerk that episode... Yet, oddly enough, only to his colleagues and *not* unreasonable in his relationship. Weird.

Well Louis has been seeing Dr. Lipschitz for a long time now. This is the first season we've seen him in person though.

It surprises me that the competition is not taking advantage of PSL weakness. They have no manpower whatsoever, so I would expect a ton of lawsuits that require a ton of paperwork against their cliënts, so they will have to drop them. Also the new guy brings his old cliënts (is that even allowed?) but the old partners didn't take theirs?
Great move of replacing someone with a law degree and some experience, but didn't earn the respect of the associates due to lack of experience, by someone who has no law experience whatsoever.

I thought that, with the exception of Jessica, the old partners did take their clients with them and that PSL needed to rebuild not only their workforce but also their clientele. Could be wrong though.

can the characters act like normal rational people for once and not do stupid shit so much. harvey in particular has been cancerous to follow as a character. for a guy who was "right" about everything and was always one step ahead since the start of the series, hes now got his head so far up his own ass its ridiculous.

But it's the pressure of filling Jessica's shoes and really being #1 at the firm now during a period where PSL is at its worst, or something something that I could see as like 10% realistic and 90% over-the-top.
