For one, you got both the skin AND hair colors wrong, and you made her curly hair a bit too elongated. Next time you probably want to shorten up the curls and repeat the pattern a few times. Those balloons in her cutie mark have edges that are waaaaayy too hard, and you can barely see the strings. You got the configuration right though, so there's that. Oh, and eye color is wrong, lighten that up a bit. Don't worry, a few more months of drawing pink poni and you might make it someday! | ||

Also, because I cannot make it there tomorrow, I wanted to leave another "artist's note" here, this time from the famous artist Andrew Loomis. His discussion is about "rhythm", but not in the same sense that Bridgmen discussed it, which had to do with rhythm in the figure. Instead, this has to do with line freedom and movement. It reads as follows: Rhythm in drawing is something you feel. Rhythm must be closely associated with design, and every head has design. There is a related flow of line, one line working with or opposed to another. Rhythm is freedom in drawing, freedom to express shapes, not meticulously, but in harmony. Rhythm is the hand working with the brain more than with the ye, the feel of the thing rather than the look of it. In drawing, rhythm comes with practice just as it does with a gold club. No one can tell you how to acquire it, but as you become conscious of it, you begin to recognize it when it is there. He writes more, but I think this is enough to make the point. If you want to learn to draw, you must learn this rhythm, or sense of freedom. And yet again, it can only come through practice. He mentions ways of improving, which is through making marks, broad strokes and gestures. Also, as most artists will tell you, he advises against clamping with your fingers when drawing, as you would hold a pencil when writing. Instead, you should grip it between the thumb and pointer finger instead. I don't actually do this, and anyone should find their own way of drawing, so long as they are not clamping. This is to allow you to be free, flowing and encourage the use of your entire arm when drawing rather than just your fingers or your wrist.
