Rarity's character FLAW is her egoism, but it has been dealt with in sister hooves social and to some extent she is dealing with it. And I can't imagine anyone agrees with you that she only cares about herself and vanity above all else...I have no idea where you get that. There are direct examples from every Rarity-centric episode. | ||

I know from writing experience that half of what people pick up the writer didn't intend, and likewise when there are twenty writers devoted to a show (Like there probably is for MLP) every idea and paradigm a writer has of the "MLP universe" is going to mold with the other ideas that writers throw in there. Also writing is very complex, so small tidbits and facts can easily be forgotten. What I'm trying to say is to don't hold onto to an idea in the Pony universe as concrete fact because it is not. Edit:Anyways, I know I coming off as sort of a dick here but what I am trying to say is that I wanted to be a part of the MLP community, but upon seeing how seriously they took it, I did a 180. | ||

I don't think you should take it as seriously either, most people like to defend their best pony. But its all in good fun, I don't think I've ever seen anyone get into a shouting match over it. When we discuss best pony I think everyone is just doing it for fun and not to be taken like a discussion like religion or politics. Just brush it off it annoys you and talk about something else. ^^ But stay and participate with us, were a fun bunch, some stuff gets taken seriously or offending just change the topic. Community's are like family  give and take - nothing is perfect. | ||

in your post could help us know you are intentionally ignoring facts or being facetious. And maybe if we were chatting in real life, this wouldn't be a problem. But as it is, through text, it looks like you're trying to start something with that last post. If you critique a character, you're opening the discussion floor. Don't critique without being willing to be critiqued.Please notice, I'm not defending any ponies, I'm just pointing out how you're not making any sense to me. As for people picking up on themes the writers don't intend, absolutely. It's really funny sometimes, too, especially when authors have to go out of there way to denounce an unintentional theme. I know a lot of themes in MLP:FiM are intentional, what with aesops and how intense Lauren Faust was when designing the characters, so I can't really blame people for looking there to pick them up.
