No, this is not a joke/trolling thread. We don't need more filler posts asking if it is.
Remember to spoiler season 6 content, and clearly label your spoilers. |

Yes, the show is episodic in nature, meaning you can watch a single episode outside of the continuum and still get what is going on, the exceptions being #1 and #2 which are sort of a "mega episode"

Is this Underwater Basket Weaving all over again or something? Exactly what I was thinking. When my friend first told me about this show, I thought he was trolling but i guess there really is a large following. I checked out the episode in the OP (7 i think?) and i don't really see why everyone thought it was SO amazing. Seems like a typical child's show. But whatever floats your boat i guess.

I fucking love underwater Basket weaving.

Yes, and even then the plots are all fairly generic and resolved fast. The surprising part is the depth of character shown while doing it.

I am probably going to regret this, but I made an IRC channel. If anyone is bored #tlponies on quakenet.
http://webchat.quakenet.org/ is the webclient.
If it gets too overwhelmed with trolls I'll shut it down.

Character development and character relationships also develop across the season. (All are platonic so far, aside from Spike's crush on Rarity.) Consequently, it's best to watch the episodes in chronological order once you're hooked.

Twilight- "Now what are we to do?" Fluttershy- "Panic?" Rainbow- "That´s your answer for everything!"

really guys? guess I now know a little more about the MLP memes.. I haven't watched powerpuff girls much, but seen scenes of it, you can sort of tell MLP is made by the same person.. well, maybe I will download, haha.
/e well watched the winter wrap up video, well like a minute of it.. I dunno.. -_-

Fun fact, I just learned spike is voiced by a woman... Cathy Weseluck

I wouldn't recommend episode 7 as an introduction to the series, although adorable it's just Fluttershy being... shy. Just went through the first 11 since yesterday and of those I'd say episode 4.
But coming without much prejudice I'm happy I watched in the "right" order. Goes from "oh, another hero girls show, but cute ponies" to "this could be fun" to "lol wtf lmao" to "i will never stop watching this awesome show"

... why do guys always have to prove how "manly" they are to each other? Pony-haters say MLP is gay, Bronies so only real men can be honest about what they like. Personally, I watched the show, fell in love with it, but I don't see how that affects my manliness or sexual orientation at all.
To those who actually watched the series, what are some of your favorite moments in the show? These are some of mine:
1) First Sonic Rainboom 2) Second Sonic Rainboom 3) Pinkie Pie's Pied Piper Performance 4) Pinkie Pie becoming the Joker when she thinks her friends are avoiding her 5) Any scene with Pinkie Pie in general actually
and of course...
6) Every single scene with Fluttershy
I think I'm gonna go rewatch the series now.

I think I'm gonna go rewatch the series now. Fluttershy's "cheering" is absolutely up there. As is when fluttershy is "so angry I could scream". Or when fluttershy loses it in the grand galloping gala. I also liked in episode 1 when applebloom asks "aren't you going to stay for brunch" with the cutest face in existence or... I just realized I have a lot of favorite moments.
EDIT: Oh, oh, when Twilight Sparkles loses it at the end of swarm of the century. "we need to rebuild all of ponyville over there. We have less than a minute"

I have to hand it to this show thought, a month ago, I thought it'd be really lame... first episode made me think you were all idiots.

Goes from "oh, another hero girls show, but cute ponies" to "this could be fun" to "lol wtf lmao" to "i will never stop watching this awesome show" I felt the exact same way. First 2 eps I was like "omg don't let this be magical girl with ponies" but after ep3 and 4 I was hooked and glad the power of friendship part never appeared again.
Also Ep4 is awesome, Applejack really grew on me after I finished the series already and I rewatched a lot of episodes focusing on her. Ep13 was great too.
Also one of my favorite musical moments of the show: + Show Spoiler +

Don't watch the first and second episode for starters.
I watched them a little and really went ''meh''
But then I watched the (!) last episode and let me tell you I was hooked. It was funny in a shrek sort of way. With good mature humor is some shape or form. Aswell as good editing and appropriate acting.
Its a def watch

Well, I gave it a shot (why not, right?). Watched eps 1-6. Apart from episode 2 (or part 2 of episode 1 I guess), it wasn't that bad. Ep2 was just so predictable, the moment applejack said "let go, honest!" I instantly figured out where the rest of the episode will go, and was just 'meh' throughout. Later episodes were much better though.
It's not anything special like "omg you have to watch this", I don't really see the rave about it. I guess it's because it's so unexpected that something aimed at 3-9y/o girls is actually watchable by a totally different demographic. I'll probably watch the rest of it, which is saying a lot, haha.
Could do without the whole 'dear princess' at the end of every episode though.

If not the first episode I would say the third episode, Ticket Master, is good for a first watch. It does a good job introducing the character, their main traits and balances everyone's screen time pretty well, with Twilight as the focus as usual.
But I don't think the first two were bad. The ponies, animation and music is all there, and the first ep isn't that heavy on the whole Nightmare Moon plot and mostly serves as a plot device for Twilight to go and meet the cast. It is a bit misleading especially with the second ep, but oh well.
