Did you read the lastest Jayson Thiessen interview, or his latest public statement from earlier today? Lauren Faust was obsessing with Star Trek: TNG around the time she got involved in the writing process for the episode, intentionally made Discord a Q knockoff, and then came up with the idea to actually grab de Lanci for the role. Even his teleport/magic sound effect is a copy. - In other news, just read through the EqD post about BroNYcon. Apparently a custom pony of Rainbow Dash dressed as a Wonderbolt went for $600 at auction. Kind of seems dumb to me, actually... as far as I could tell it didn't go much beyond a paint job, and it wasn't for charity. Wonderbolt Dashes of similar quality have been on eBay more than once before for nowhere near that amount (under $200 I think). | ||

Actually, one episode I'd LOVE to see down the road is a Batman TAS-esque episode that centers completely around the villains (you know, the one that has a bunch of the villains playing poker and recounting stories of how they almost got Batman). I could see it happening once they add enough major villains that might come back (like Discord; it'd be easy to have him come back in the canon) as well as the "weekly" antagonists such as Trixie. They'd easily be able to work in morals and dawww inducing changes of heart in the non-evil characters (such as Trixie). I dunno, it seems like a cool idea... | ||

Still, a fun idea. I love Discord as a villain, and if we had a three or four more like him, possibly. But, as for the movie, the production studio is already swamped cranking it out. Despite my hope, I don't know how they'd do it. I know with Anime movies they're farming out different episodes to different animation studios all the time, and simply hire a higher quality studio for the movie or something like that. But that's all the common used hand animation or 2d/3d mix stuff, FiM has a sort of unique production pipeline that doesn't lend itself to farming out. | ||

Another cool episode idea would be ones similar to Party of One except for the other characters. "So-and-so's past" episodes are really fun and provides you with more insight into the characters, allowing you to greatly increase your empathy with said characters. This strikes me as a very good idea considering empathy is one of the most powerful tools at the show's disposal. You do raise an extremely good point about the whole movie thing, though. Studio B already works itself to the bone and is (or at least was) cranking out content about twice as quickly as you normally would, so time constraints could be quite major. It'd be nice if they had a fullblown movie as a side project, though, that they could slowly build upon while doing their usual work on the rest of the episodes. People must be giving him credit for things he has not done or something? from everything ive seen there has always been a huge well of respect and nerding out for Lauren Faust any time she ever set hoof anywhere near Equestria daily or anything like that there is some huge explosion of fan reaction, I think Jayson Thiessen deserves alot of the praise he is getting and maybe its because he is so often involved in the community lately but regardless of how much he defers the praise to Lauren Faust I think anybody with common sense can see that although he did not come up with the My little Pony reboot and season 1+2 all by himself (did anyone really think he did? c'mon? >.>) but the job he did in season 1 and 2 production making Laurens vision real, and now his new role in season 3 are demanding enough that we should lavish praise on the guy! :p I can't speak for people but I feel that the community at large is well aware of what Jayson Thiessen's contributions to the show and Lauren Faust's contributions were, and what Jaysons role will be in the future. Either some people are making fools of themselves praising him as the Lord and savior of all things Pony, or the guy is too humble for his own good. :p Credit where credit is due I say, much love to Lauren Faust for creating what we know as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and good work and good luck to Jayson Thiessen taking the reins as it were for season 3. | ||
