i tried to write in previous posts here why

i feel like im being spoon-fed (tho with a shovel) the cluster of jokes and scenarios, the pacing is all wrong and completely different, everything comes across as extremely "contrived" (i hate this word but i use it to describe the feeling i get).

its more like watching a "sketch show" than a "improv/reality show" now. even though the earlier seasons all had a very distinct formula, the individual scenes were all natural and you didnt feel like the actors were just saying their lines to get out a joke and move onto the next joke

I agree that the pace of the show is a lot faster this season. However, I think Curb as a "improv/reality" show is a great freaking show and Curb as a "sketch show" is also a great freaking show. I probably even prefer the latter as I've never thought Cheryl Hines was all that funny and I'm glad she's gone.

Someone said there is no overarching story; there is Lary is in New York for the rest of the season.

that's hardly a real overarching storyline lol. especially since it has nothing to do with the 1st 4 episodes. it's not like last season where every episode either referenced or was completely about the seinfeld reunion.

I can see how being in New York is not much of a story, but it could be that theme of this season is a kind of sienfeld retrospective - since he is back in New York the place that inspired his comedy in sienfeld.

Nice work on the recycled plot points even though I was asking specifically about the New York episode. I thought of another from that episode, he makes noise at a concert he is invited to by the performer. The only thing that could seal the deal is if he gets a job for the New York Yankees.

Best show on earth, I love Larry <3

Also one of the best scenes is when Leon tells Larry what he should do about the nazi.

The 'Shit Bow' episode, made me laugh out loud.

This show is easily the wittiest show right now.
Btw who cares some are recycled plot points, its the same creator and he has the right to take some of his old ideas make it better if the end result is hilarious. The comedy is better than seinfield imo, and as a main character he's more likable and delivers a lot more than jerry seinfield. I can't wait for the next episode ;0

Yeah, I think that was possibly my least favourite scene of this season.

I have to agree with the general feeling in this thread which seems to be that S08 is a little more inconsistent than other seasons. I'm not too worried though, E07 was one of the funniest I've ever seen (Leon just kills me - @24mins: "I just had a motherfucking croissant filled with champagne") and there are a couple of other golden scenes from the season (mostly classic Leon moments).

Firstly, you've gotta spoiler a post that long.

Secondly, what is the actual point of your post? It would be impossible for Larry David not to at least revisit some jokes since he has created two shows totalling 17 seasons. I find your post a testament to the creativity of Larry David rather than a demonstration of his lack of ideas. 17 reused jokes in 17 seasons of comedy? Who gives a shit. Some of those 17 comparisons are grasping at straws anyway, so it's probably even less.
