At least when they were in the states and had stuff thrown at their cars, they were flagrantly antagonistic in what they presented. I remember when that story first broke, it was made to seem as though Clarkson had intentionally used a plate that would evoke a response from Argentinians.

Watching the special, I am not 100% that I would believe it wasn't a bit that backfired hard on everyone involved, but anything is pure speculation as to their motivation.

Yeah i mean even if that was "done on purpose" it wasn't until right at the end that shit went crazy.
May said whilst in the room at the end that none of the Argentinians had been horrible and they had all been kind and they were very well received.
Soon as they reached that town shit went crazy, then with the way the online crazy riots go they were nearly badly hurt. Also wow the police they did fuck all haha
"we can't guarantee your safety" hmm isn't it your job to do that

Also the number plate could hardly be seen whole journey, before they got into the town he removed the front number plate anyway leaving just the rear which was dirty anyway. Seems very harsh what they did to them.

But the whole journey Clarkson and co did nothing to antagonise anyone and it was literally only the number plate which could of been the issue.

I mean they were closer to the Falklands than they had been previously I suppose. I had to do a bit of research about the Falkland War to get some context and I think my favorite quote about it was the war was like, "...Two bald men fighting over a comb."

I knew that the English had fought a war to keep the islands after Argentina claimed them, but not much more than that. I also know that some British friends of mind in their 40s/50s weren't too keen on talking about the conflict. Really an interesting bit of history.

Yeah it is, it quite a fierce war that came about due to stubborn governments on either side.

What i liked was when they weren't allowed to be dropped off on the desired island from the ferry and had to be dropped onto beach because "Argentina think they own these islands and they are Chile's" damn, Argentina really like to dispute boundaries. They are like that annoying neighbour who constantly blocks your plans to put an extension on your house, or tells you off for over stepping your boundary by half an inch with a fence.

98% of these specials are usually fake. I am fine with that because i mostly view top gear as a comedy show with cars but the last 20 minutes of that were just fucking ridiculous. Were they real?
There might be tensions because of a war (i have a hard time calling it a war with "only" 900 death) but we are talking about a friking car show not a show to build a Margaret Thatcher bronce statue. They drove threw Iraq and were saver then there.

The real loosers besides the nationalist idiots there are the Police, which was for sure informed weeks before the filmling crew arrived and which cant protect shit by the looks of it and the people in charge of securety, which are looking for a new job for sure.
